[Proposal] acquiring Adam Fox from CGY

Recommended Posts

Bumping this thread because I saw a proposal on Flames hf to trade Adam fox for Raddysh. This tells me there are at least some people in Calgary who think they have a log jam on defensemen and should work on building their forward core for now.

Looking at calgary’s Right side on Defence, they probably won’t need Adam fox for a couple years at least, and if they hold off on signing him, they risk losing him to free agency when he graduates from Harvard.

Whatthe flames need need right now is help on the RW and on the power play.  I know Vanek is technically a left winger, but he is a right handed shot who can play on the right side, and he has more power play points than monahan this year. Packaging Vanek with a Canucks prospect could maybe get Fox in return.

My thoughts:

To phlems:

Vanek

Lind

To Canucks:

Fox

5th rounder

flames would do this because they get a right winger pp specialist for their playoff push as well as a solid right wing prospect to add to their future core (Lind only 3.5 yr younger than monahan).

Canucks finally would get a solid PMD, who is also right handed, prospect for the first time since Chris tanev. Fox definitely has higher offensive upside than tanev though probably won’t be as stellar defensively (few are).

Why would that be a no go? Canucks have 5 rw under the age of 23 in there system who will likely play on the NHL. They have no RHD (save for chat field) who will likely play. Seems like a no brainer to me

So you believe that every RW player under the age of 23 can be an NHL regular for the canucks? I would rather keep Kole Lind because he looks very promising and is having a good season in Kelowna, maybe he turns out as a steal like boeser did. Benning seemed quite happy selecting him in the second round, could also have gone in the 1 st round....

No I don’t think every right winger will be an NHL regular. But I do think boeser will be, and very likely Virtanen and Goldobin will be NHL regulars. Lockwood and Lind are probably closer to 40-50%. While this is still pretty good odds (as far as a prospect goes) I think it’d be worth it to try and trade Lind for a defencemen because the Canucks have 0 RHD who will likely make it. Fox is a better prospect than Lind and the Canucks need defensemen more than they need a rw. Seems like a no brainer if you can make the trade work

Yeah maybe add more picks at the deadline and stack up the prospect pool with Dmen at the 2018 draft...
