Fighting ISIS with Porn

A group of Iraqi computer hackers has launched a cyberoperation against the ISIS terror group by slipping pornographic images into its official communication channels, according to a report published this week.

Members of the hacker group, which calls itself Daeshgram (a play on an Arabic acronym many use to describe ISIS), told Newsweek that the goal is to show distrust among ISIS supporters about messages from the group's leadership.

In one instance, the hackers photo shopped an image of a naked woman into an announcement about the opening of a media center in ISIS-controlled Syria. The altered image made it appear that the ISIS extremists were viewing pornography.

Daeshgram's most prominent target is Amaq, which one hacker described as "a so-called news agency" for ISIS. The group forced the site offline with a denial-of-service attack before creating an exact replica of the page with messages mocking the terror group's ideology.

"Daesh responded by telling supporters not to trust any of the Amaq links," a hacker told the magazine. "They even had fights among themselves about the topic and deleted each other from various groups."

"Go on [encrypted messaging app] Telegram and you will see that Daesh are confused about Amaq and don’t trust it," the Daeshgram hacker added. "So we think we have been successful to an extent, and we are only six people."

They’re doing more than Trudumb to fight ISIS.

All Canada is doing is welcoming ISIS fighters back into Canada and reintegrating then into society. What a joke our government is.

We are?  I have not heard of this.  Fighting ISIS, who uses the Internet to spread their lies, with the Internet is totally smart.

thats the con spin. The gov't is trying to deal with suspected fighters returning to Canada. They are being watched by CSIS and there isn't much more that the legal system can do at this point. The conservatives are trying to spin it like they are being welcomed home or something. Its really bad how much the current version of the conservatives are willing to divide the country over Trump-like lies.

There isn’t much the government can do? How so?

To my knowledge the government is working on rehabilitating these people so they can enjoy normal lives after most likely commiting war crimes over seas. I have not done a ton of research on this topic however the articles and new stories I have read and watched all seem to point to putting Canadians in harms way by even thinking of allowing these people back into society. As far as I am concerned these people don’t get a pass to come back to Canada and be rehabilitated. Toss them in prison and throw away the key. They don’t deserve to be apart of Canada.

also your article just proves my point even further.  It states on your article that these fighters may return to Canada and resort to violence.  I don’t agree with the governments decision to be so easy on these people and even if there is a 1% chance these people resort to violence when back in Canada there should be no question that they should not be given the chance to come back.

Correct. They are treasonous scum against Canada who joined a terrorist entity that continues to commit crimes against humanity and should at the very least be imprisoned indefinitely, if not hanged. Instead, we let them back and "watch" them through an agency which is already having a hard enough time doing that with those that didn't leave. Your tax dollars hard at work, folks, while your government puts your well being at risk.

Some of the dumbest posts I've seen in a very long time.  First of all, way to hijack the thread and start harping on the Canadian government.  Second, honestly what's your point?  Do you guys honestly not understand how the law works?  We don't care about what you think the Canadian government should do because it would be illegal and you'd get a bunch of lawsuits.  If you try to deny re-entry for Canadian citizens, you will get sued.  If you end up actually killing someone (capital punishment is illegal), you will get sued.

It's not a pretty situation.  The government doesn't really have great options to work with here.  But what you're suggesting is both stupid and impossible.

It says a lot that you hate cops but want the government to kill people without trial.

here's where I'll suggest that youre incorrect - no one wants to "go easy" on them. We have laws Ken, and while I agree with the sentiment we can't break our own laws. Maybe you've forgotten that the Liberals actually didn't repeal any of C-22 that Harper brought in, and they have established an all-party committee to deal with this stuff. No one is taking it lightly and they are doing all they can within the laws that even Harper put forward.

We need to all be pulling in the same direction on this, not playing petty politics. Thankfully the government is actually doing that.

Yet that doesn't stop you from making asinine statements:
