Hypocritical Cranium
Lawyer for the defendant steps to the mic and says "before people question this verdict, remember the President is under investigation" http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42190455 An illegal immigrant from Mexico charged with the fatal 2015 shooting of a young woman in San Francisco has been acquitted of murder. Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, who had been deported from the US five times, was accused of killing Kate Steinle in a case which highlighted a failure in the state to enforce immigration laws. Garcia Zarate was found not guilty on charges of murder and manslaughter. US President Donald Trump later tweeted that the verdict was "disgraceful". Garcia Zarate, previously identified as Francisco Sanchez, had been held in prison shortly before the killing but was released by the San Francisco sheriff's department. His release, under the so-called sanctuary city law which limits co-operation with federal immigration authorities, sparked a political debate in the US over the country's immigration policy. DonaldBrashear
This verdict only strengths Trump's position. He will use this case for his re-election. He will tie the democrats to this murderer and it will get him re-elected for a 2nd term. Watch.

Gurn
The guy was acquitted- who cares where he came from - at least in regards to the crime of murder? Seems to be an illegal migrant story mixed with a murder story, that the illegal migrant was acquitted of the charge, of murder.

Oh is that what you got from that? I was wondering how far someone would reach to somehow make this ok, you know because we NEED an entire thread for 1 single criminal act based on the persons country of origin while ignoring the fact that this stuff happens daily anyways. But hey cool. Don't strain yourself though, I know that was a far reach trying to put words in to my mouth or somehow "strawman" your way in to relevance but some ice will take care of it if you do

Warhippy
For a breakdown of the proceedings. This is important by the way because this was the main case trump is using to justify his border wall. The guy IS a criminal. IS guilty of numerous crimes and HAS been deported numerous times. Keep that in mind. But he's only different than the every day criminals in the US based on his country of origin and his high profile case due to this being used to promote the wall
Lancaster
Illegal or not, the law should be properly enforced. I believe one of the reasoning he's not guilty is because he supposedly shot at the concrete first and not at the victim. I mean... what kind of a BS defense is that? It's like saying the Las Vegas shooter isn't a mass murderer... he was actually just aiming at the window panes In regards to the killer's status.... it should have been enforced. Legal residences of the US obviously do commit murders and other crimes, but in this case, it was really preventable. I know, "Diversity is our strength", "Dreamers", "It's the Current Years", "We're all immigrants" and other blah blah blah, heart-of-the-card motto.... but obviously this guy isn't the migrant any country need nor desires. The legal route for immigration should always be the only choice available.

Well now that I read the link, my previous post is just kinda silly isn't it? Criminal negligence causing death as well as the weapons violation would have been better. Just bury him in the desert IMO I see no reason to put him in prison at all, deporting him won't work. I kinda feel that way about a lot of criminals though regardless of country of origin. At what point in time does the justice system finally just say we've done all we can they won't learn and just do what needs to be done? I'm not a bleeding heart in this instance. The guy IS guilty almost without question.

Perhaps it is better suited to be in the Trump thread, and if that's your only point, I'm behind you all the way. The fact that this involves an illegal does make it important, given Trump's campaign. This incident fully supports Trump's wall agenda (btw, I'm not claiming the wall is the way to go), along with the deserved slamming of the sanctuary cities. 12 hours ago, Hypocritical Cranium said: Lawyer for the defendant steps to the mic and says "before people question this verdict, remember the President is under investigation" Seriously? If this happened in court, the judge should have scolded him at least for this irrelevant outburst. Who knows... maybe he thinks he is up for a position on the 9th circuit. And regardless, that's a dumbass statement if true.
Harvey Spector
PAYBACK!! Justice for Kate... DOJ demands custody of Steinle killer Trump administration moves to take case away from California The Trump administration moved Friday to claim custody of the illegal immigrant who killed Kate Steinle, saying he violated the terms of his probation and should be sent back to federal prison. The move is aimed at taking Jose Inez Garcia Zarate away from California officials, after a jury in that state acquitted him Thursday of murder and manslaughter charges stemming from the Steinle killing. A Justice Department official said there’s an existing federal detainer requiring Garcia Zarate to be remanded to U.S. Marshals and sent to a federal court in Texas to answer for the probation violation. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/dec/1/doj-demands-custody-steinle-killer/

CBH1926
This whole sanctuary city business, is all about the votes and politics. It should not protect convicted felons who have been deported 5 times. City officials, have the obligation to protect its citizens, they have failed miserably in this case.
