wildcam
Since we don't have Derek Dorsett to play for us anymore we must add toughness.. I have always been a big fan of Chris Stewart, 6'2, 240 lbs, 30yrs old has scored 15 or more goals 5 seasons and this guy can play not just a fighter.. This is the type of player we need in the lineup, he can play on any line and the big this is he is a decent player.. Now a days you need a tough guy that can play a regular shift and that is hard to find, Chris Stewart can play this role.. Go Canucks Go..
D-Money
If Wild were looking to deal him for cheap, then maybe...but there is no indication that they are. So essentially, it will take an overpayment to land a bottom-6 forward. As such, hard pass. Dorsett's true value was not the fact he threw hits and dropped the gloves, but rather, that he was a quality teammate and leader. Players had nothing but utmost respect for him, which made his drive and determination rub off on others. From all reports I have heard of Stewart, he is not that type of person/player. Odd.
Wouldn't mind Foligno instead. Might be cheaper and he's younger.
JM_
we may have to wait for free agency on this one. I'm sure Jim could get someone but GMs would likely want to rob him of picks, etc. so it will probably be a free agent signing or some other kind of 'hockey trade' that will take time to put together. But Jim seems to make deals no one saw coming so who knows?

DJSkingz
I said it before and I will say it again. Darren Archibald. Only cost us a contract. Already in the system. Had a great pre-season.

D-Money
13 minutes ago, Jimmy McGill said: he did? he's been given more than one look over the years.... imho he would have been given a 2 way deal last year after a 23 goal season if they thought he could compete up here. Archibald played 5 preseason games, stats were: 1G, 1A, +1, 12 PIM (1 fight, 1 major, 1 minor), 11 SOG, 11:56 TOI/g He looked decent in a 4th line role, and was the last cut. But at the time, there just wasn't room for everyone. However, he's not having a great season in Utica this year. Labate is having a good year in Utica, and is already under contract. So if they just want grit from the farm, they'll probably go to him instead.

I agree, he had one noticable physical game against the Vegas Knights, everyone jumped on the Archibald train, and he disappeared after that. Jeckel Hyde player, never gives you that full consistent physical edge like Dorsett brought every night. Darren isn't the answer. There isn't going to be a player like Dorsett that we can plug in and hope they will replicate what he did. Dorsett was a one of a kind of a player. Very few players will you find that the fight in the dog is bigger than the actual size.
Neutral
Zac Rinaldo from Arizona is a cheap option. I thought the guy was quite a bit older, he is only 27. Ranked 9th this year in hits so far

Schmautzie
Quote Quote Stewart is the guy I mentioned would have been a good fit in a team toughness thread on this forum. He was signed by the Wild at only 1.25 million per year. He’ll be a U.F.A. again next July 1.
gregthehockeynut
If the NHL sticks with tight penalty enforcment {slashing etc), big slower players will struggle to keep up in the speed game. I like Stewart 3 or 4 years ago before he had some injuries. I doubt he can keep up anymore. I do agree we need to replace Dorsett's role with at least a banger who can skate and kill penalties if not a true fighter.
Cramarossa
Whatever happened to Ryan White, is he still free? We never really gave him a fair shake on his PTO since he was concussed for most of it. He's a gritty, 4th line energy guy. Can play wing or C and chips in the odd goal as well as the odd fight. J.I.A.H.N
Maybe we should just wait and see how the team reacts short term anyways.....the end of the year.........no need to panic Remember Dorsett was out an extended time, as well as Gudbranson, and we didn't start panicking, why now? Canucklehead73
Just play biega on the wing and you get Dorsett hustle and grit without the fighting
Gaudette Celly
Stewart's a pushover. Literally. Just ask Nikita.
sockeye
I also like Chris Stewart but I'm hoping for Darren Archibald to have a quick recovery from his surgery. I'd like to fill Dorsett's void from within the organization (also, we wouldn't need to trade players or give up picks). Archibald had a good pre-season.
