COACHES in VANCOUVER - I don't get it . . .

Does anyone remember CRAWFORD in Vancouver and the TWINS just starting their careers?   WELL I certainly do.  I was a Season Ticket Holder then and the Sedins were ALWAYS on the ice.   They were always on the second unit power play and it was PATHETIC.   OMG, we would sit in our seats and not even watch.  BUT CROW, he didn't care what we thought.   He played them.   They made lots of mistakes and he still sent them out there.  Shift, after shift, after shift.   LOOK how they turned out

GOLDY makes a mistake, and then he sits for a couple of games.   OMG, let the kid play.   Jake Virtanen same treatment - make a mistake and out you will sit.

WE had a chance to get CROW back and I think we should have jumped on it but we didn't.

This isn't a Canucks coach thing, it's an every coach thing. For example, both Marner and Nylander put up more than 60 points last year and Babcock still made them play on the fourth line for several games this season.

Notice how Boeser hasn't been benched ever since he came into the lineup? The point is pretty clear. If you pay attention to the details, you'll play more minutes. Virtanen and Goldobin aren't quite there yet and that's fine. The important thing is they continue to progress.

I'm not sure why Goldobin is sitting. Isn't he one of our better prospects able to play? Instead they call up Chaput, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Megna called up again at some point too. I know it's about icing the best team and winning games, but guess what? They aren't winning.

Maybe they were bad because they weren't ready.

Also, it took a lock out for the Sedins to get good. They focused on improving their skating and fitness and when the NHL resumed, they were different players. They certainly didn't get good b/c Crawford used them as a bad second unit PP 5 years prior.

ah but we have these shiny new toys

and we want to see them play and play and play

it does not matter to us that they might not play the right way

cuz the vets are not shiny and new anymore and are boring

and we just want do dump all over them

we really want, hope, dream, that the new toy will be magical

(ala brock) and wow us on a daily basis

and we hope to win the lottery too every time we buy a ticket

If the philosophy for our coaches is you play the 200 foot game, with details you get in the lineup then..................

Why do they have Edler, Hutton, Del Zotto playing every game.  Edler has zero hockey IQ, is afraid to hit someone because he is so injury prone.

If you want your inexperienced players to get experience then they have to play.  They can't do that from the pressbox.

sorry, how long has it been since crow was able to land an nhl head coaching job?

exactly.

Crow is overrated by a lot of Nuck fans.  He won a cup with a sure thing championship team, followed by 7 seasons of 'out of playoffs' and several 1st and 2nd round exits.

Much rather have Green.  He has fire in his belly, but he controls it well and is a smart hockey coach.

31 games in and some fans already whining about the rookie coach.  Green has done an excellent job so far, but the team has been hit with some ridiculous injuries and is struggling right now.  It's what it is.

Honestly, pretty solid post... I got a few chuckles.

Thanks for the free lolz you've provided me on the internet. +1 Hydration my man!

Crawford was a beauty. It's a shame the NHL stole his most valuable playoff asset in 2004... otherwise, with Tuzzi, he probably wins the cup that season.
