The boys don't have the mental readiness. If they can address this issue, they're likely cup contenders. We need better sport psychologist In a few years at least. krizzel
Yes, would be interesting to see how we hold up against other teams, but you cant honestly be thinking this is the norm? Anyone got time to do this for... lets just say Arizona to keep it simple?

There's no comparison to the league average, or even another similarly placed team Arizona, by far worst team of the league, Goal Difference of -39 (VAN -14), with 114 Goals against (VAN 97).. here are the stats: In 6 Games only, they received a goal within the first 5 minutes. That's 18% (VAN 40%). Say no more!?
oldnews
luck and nerves ? yeah, they appear to be 4-9 in those games and won only 1 of their last 7 when giving up those early deficits. Not surprising - the recent results - where it's going to be even more difficult to play from behind without a healthy lineup.
krizzel
Aaaand another one, we are now at 41% in Games with a Goal received within the first 5 minutes. This can't be going unnoticed by the coaching staff.

A bad bounce or bad clearance and boom it's in our net. We have to make the safe play and clear the zone as easily as possible, THEN when we're warmed up we can try for the fancier passing. When in doubt ice it early in the game. I agree 100%. You can see the team wants to be a puck possession team but what is happening is they hold on to the puck in places where a chip out would be the best defensive play. Then turn it over at our blue line or worse, then bam its in our net. I have no issue with taking the icing call although it can also come back to bite you but the loft pass isn't such a bad thing when there is no other option or just bank it out off the glass. Especially early in the game. We cant start in the hole 50% of the time.
xereau
This problem comes down to 1 thing. Mental preparation. (a) The goalie has a mental block. (b) The team in front of the goalie is not ready to go. (i) Leadership failing to prepare the team. (ii) Coaching failing to prepare the team. (iii) Individuals failing to prepare themselves. These factors combine in various ways to cause that first shot goal.
EdgarM
The problem is basically we have two back up goalies. Too many goals scored where they should have been routine saves for a #1 goalie. Riviera82
I dont really like the word "received" in this context. I think early goals allowed would make more sense.
