I still say high speed rail from Ontario to Alberta....7 hours to cross the bulk of country vs 3 days

That would be brilliant but also likely to be used for oil if a pipeline doesn't get build and high speed and oil sounds like a Bruce Willis movie in the making.

All in all, the country needs to invest in some infrastructure...and NOW.

I actually spoke of this.  The most intelligent thing they could do would be suspended pipelines in arch tunnels much like Tokyo has for their infrastructure 10 to 15 feet under any rail line.  It keeps it encapsulated and thus mitigates any spill but also cuts down the amount of land needed.

If the Liberals force the Kinder Morgan pipeline on us without addressing our concerns, they better have their support solidified East of the Rockies because they will be losing a lot of support. Pre-election promises won't cut it this time. We have long memories and we will be reminding everyone come election time!!!. Count on it!!!!

The Liberals' support in BC is limited to a few districts in the lower mainland and even less in Alberta. (Just a couple around Calgary)

My guess is that they believe they have nothing to lose and everything to gain by supporting this pipeline.

Yup! Unfortunately BC has traditionally gotten the short end on many federal policies over the years. I still remember the finger. Maybe next election we can return the favour.

Yet apparently you supported another Trudeau.

Western Canada has been screwed time and time again not just B.C. Look what Alberta pays in equalization, talk about getting the short end of the stick. Hell the PM even forgot Alberta was part of Canada during the Canada 150 celebrations.

Of course i vote liberal federally.

The liberals are the only party that represents all provinces.  Also i could never support the Conservative party that has social policies that would likely reduce citizens personal rights and freedoms.

:lol::lol:

Were they representing all provinces in 1980 when they only had 2 seats west of Ontario?

The Liberal party is not popular in the West everyone knows this. I don't mind discussion with you but stop with the trolling nonsense.

Forgetting of course yet again to know that while saying screwed by another Trudeau, that Alberta and the entire country would be better off under the NEP had they not bought in to the lies and fears of Lougheed and Mulroney

BC being almost inconsequential to the Libs

You have to wonder how much support this is garnering them east right now should they force the pipeline through.  Add in an about face on electoral reform and showing people serious movement on that reform will win him back a solid number of votes

  • 4 weeks later...

BC is really a afterthought in Federal Elections.  How often does BC figure in the final seat count at the end of the day?  Whenever we have a majority government in Canada the vote has already been decided in the East.  I remembered the days before staggered voting when we turn on the tv and we find the election has been decided already due to voting in the East.
