Proposal- Vancouver- Anaheim

Recommended Posts

Ducks are in a win now situation and could use a RD for a playoff push. Gudbranson would be an improvement over Bieksa

To Anaheim- Erik Gudbranson, Thomas Vanek, 2018 4th

To Vancouver- Sam Steel 6ft 180lbs Shoots L -elite skating and scoring

My brother and I were just talking about a trade like this, but can't see Anaheim doing it unless they really believe they're going all the way this year, because Steel will be one of those futures you don't want to give up on.  Think Van would have to change the pick in this deal.

Someone's been watching world junior prelim highlights :D

I don't know a ton about Steel but if Petterson is going to be a winger then it may be nice to grab another top six centre for moving forward...

Why do I keep reading Pettersson will be turned into a winger? He's dominating in Sweden as a centreman.

Even if Pettersson does pan out as a center, you can never have enough guys that can play the position, as we're finding out right now.

Exactly. I'm wondering why people seem to want Pettersson converted into a winger, or think he should be.

I have no problem at all with him staying centre.  If he stays there we have an awesome 1/2 punch with him and Horvat.  If he moves to wing we need to find another top six centre and I don't know if Gaudette or any one else in our system will do that.... who knows.

I don't think it's that people want him to. It's just that he's playing mostly at wing right now and breaking records in the SHL as a winger.

I couldn't find anything saying he's actually playing wing for Vaxjo though. Hockeydb, elite prospects and wiki still have him listen as a C. The Vaxjo site has him as a forward, but they only list skaters as "forward" or "back". They also fail to report on f/o stats.

Are you sure he's playing wing?

Elias does mostly play RW in the SHL. It's a common thing they do with young players over there. They tend to give the more veteran players the "C"inority (see what I did there) of playing centre. I think a better judgement of his play will be where he finishes during the WJC, he will probably start on the wing but it's believed that he will be playing some C as well.

He's played nearly every game at RW, and a few at LW. It's common for rookies his age to play wing when they first make it to the SHL.

Good to know. Not to be obtuse, but how do you know?

I can't find any relevant news on him. Went through a number of pages and nothing reported as to his deployment, usage etc.. Well, in English at least.

I've watched a few of their games, and on their twitter they always post the pre-game lineups and he's usually slotted as the first line RW.
