b3.
Off to Olympics/KHL. Edit: also dug his own grave when he questioned the coaching staff publicly

Art Vandelay
Good hockey player, that just can't keep up to the NHL pace. Goodluck in the KHL!

ColeTr11
More playing time for everyone else i guess. Make that two guys who've run away this year.
billabong
Dont care, a guy making league minimum is entitled to squat. I don’t know who he thinks he is. Take care now, bye bye then
Toews
I always suspected that this might be his fallback plan in case things went awry. Good luck to him in the KHL, no real hard feelings he just isn't good enough to play at this level.

ForsbergTheGreat
I actually expect a lot more fringe NHL players doing this (not just Russians), as it will allow them to play in the olympics
Mackcanuck
Rick Dhaliwal @DhaliwalSports 1m1 minute ago Burmistrov agent Dan Milstein tells me, "He wanted to go back home. No other reason. The #Canucks were more than accommodating to his request."
Battlemonger
At least he gave it a shot. The NHL is the hardest sports league in the world and the ones who stick are the cream de la cream. The KHL will be a better fit for Burmy and I bet he will excel there.
Deets
While I didn't see Burmi as a part of the Canucks future, I hate seeing another depth forward leave our injury riddled line-up. Canucks just can't catch a break.

Provost
I really thought he had a chance to become a useful player. There is still a bias amongst coaches to give plenty of rope to gritty bottom end players, but not to skill guys. There were plenty of guys who had terrible stretches but kept in the lineup. Dowd was downright terrible. Burnistrov didn’t get that benefit of the doubt and was all over the lineup and sitting for long stretches. He wasn’t able to take advantage of those chances. rekker
Interesting. just couldn't seem to carve out his notch on the team. Nothing to be ashamed of. Toughest league in the world. He can go back home and probably make more while playing easier hockey. Cant blame him. Good luck Burm and I hope you get a shot at the Olympics. rekker
Kind of interested to see if Boucher can step it up. Good to have Dowd as extra centre depth now. Maybe JB new this may be coming?

Mutual termination means he gets out on unconditional waivers and we don’t carry the cap hit. He would probably have gotten sent to the minors when Sutter came back anyways.
