5th Round Pick 

 

This gives us another young winger with lots of potential, and maybe a little upgrade in our goaltending.

Pittsburgh get more depth on defense, with someone who has the potential to be a top four d-man. We give up the 5th round pick because I think Sprong is worth a little more than Ben Hutton right now. 

 

Edit: Changed the 5th rounf pick from a 4th, thanks for reminding me we already moved our 4th.

We already gave Pittsburgh our 4th round pick in the Pouliot trade.

I would like to make it simply,  just Hutton for Sprong.

We already gave-up 4th round pick in the Pouliot trade, how about addition of 5th round pick.

Hutton for Sprong straight up works for me, but something tells me that's because it's heavily in our favor. Sprong is pretty much a PPG player in his first year in the A. Hutton is a good 5/6 d-man (maybe a 4 if you stick him with a really good partner) and likely tops out there. Hutton is like 3-4 years older and is lucky to break 15 points this season, at this point I'd say MDZ is a far superior player. Sprong will soon be cheap depth scoring for a cap team. They can get a Hutton type d-man for much cheaper elsewhere. 

 

Jarry is younger and statistically better than Nilsson. The 5th isn't anywhere near enough to make up the difference. They lose massive value on both players.
