The last handful of #9s........Prust/ Kassian/ Hodgson/ Pyatt /Keane/ Druken.

The most recent three were.......a tad underwhelming. I have high hopes for Leipsic sticking around longer and making more of an impact than they did.

Thank you for the information, SingleThorn. Is that a rhinoceros beetle in the profile pic?

Indeed it is. Once got nailed in the forehead at 60mph on my m/c. Was dazed. Rhino picked himself up and flew off. ( there were no good 'thorn' pics )

I'm excited to see what Lipstick can do.

I agree it is a new shiny toy the Canucks get to ice. For all the hatred for the Motte and to a lesser extend Leipsic additions...

I would much rather see these younger guys get a chance vs seeing us ice Megna and Chaput like he had to do not long ago!

Glad to see Leipsic on the team. Looking forward to seeing him suit up. Hopefully he makes #9 his own. Was it just Kassian that wore it before him? Or did Hodgson wear it as well?

Hodgson, Roy in recent memory.

But not to worry it'll be Evander Kane's this summer

Maybe Evander is too old to become part of our next core?  I wonder if JB does sign Evander, that indicates JB believes he has (currently) enough top prospects to complete the rebuild already?

i wonder if e kane noticed how little other teams think of him

and he was dumped for below market trade value

just because of who he is

he has that bad rep thing attached to him in a more odorous way then vanek does

i think he'll encounter similar response to his free agency contract hopes/expectations

I agree.  Really good teams will not want to ruin their locker rooms, and rebuilding teams won't want Kane to ruin their young players.

there must be a middling team out there

with no meaningful young prospects

that would love to sign him long term

so they can stay completely average forever

Evander Kane to Toronto!!!!!!  :gocan::gocan:

oooh .. i really like how black that feels and badly that could turn out

that is a great idea

but he has to demand and receive a hefty contract to go there

get it done alf

edit: maybe we'll get to see some video of him cleaning his skate blades using matthew's jersey

From someone who I know who follows Vegas (lives there), says LB has been a good player this year but snakebitten around the net.   No idea what sort of shooting percentage he has but I bet it is very low as apparently he gets lots of shots on goal (posts and crossbars too...and they don't count as shots) and he only has a couple of goals so something seems out of place.  Perhaps the dam will burst for him.   Clearly given CHL and AHL he knows how to score.

I'm talking more about not even playing them in the NHL before trading them.

I assume you're really talking about Subban.  Well if these DMen could play in the NHL then the Canucks would keep them.  I think the OP was probably right, Holm projects to no more than a 3rd pairing DMan.  Our biggest loss was not being able to keep Sbisa, who is having a great year in Vegas on their first pairing.  Fortunately, there are two or three younger guys in Utica and of course OJ who all probably have more long-term upside than Holm.  Besides, maybe in Leipsic JB sees something of a young Brad Marchand or Alex Burrows, two agitators who were great at getting opponents off their game and who didn't develop offensively until they'd been in the league for a few years.  I think that was the plan for Dorsett, who appeared to be really be coming into his own offensively when he had to retire.  I suspect JB is eyeing some undrafted NCAA DMen (lately, Stecher has been one of our best players), or maybe some younger undrafted euros (somebody who's playing with Pettersson, Dahlin or OJ?) or maybe the plan is to load up on DMen in the draft.  He has a plan and will make it work.  JB is still filling up the cupboard, but already we surely have the deepest talent pool we've ever had.
