Ok I remember now after doing a quick search

The current 4th overall pick was traded in this trade:

To CGY: Henrik Sedin, 2019 LAK 1st, 2018 CGY 4th

To LAK: Nikita Nesterov, Colby Cave

Have fun with a top 3 pick Calgary! the tank in LA is now on.

I know salary trades are generally not great, but yikes. I forgot how bad that was.

The excuse at the time was they needed cap space.

They also traded their first the year prior for, I think, Namestnikov. Which turned into Andrei Svechnikov.

Interesting development in Boston?  (Real life Anaheim)

Isac Lundstrom, we got flamed for picking him 21st overall last draft, has hit the 10 game threshold with the Ducks. He's burned year one of his ELC even though Getzlaf & Kesler returned to the line up. He has not set the world on fire.

I presumed he would go back to Europe or the minors when Kess came back? But he's playing almost 15 minutes a game at 18.  The Ducks must think they have a player...

BTW @Master Mind @Jaku; can we adjust him to C/LW.  He's been playing wing and is listed as such on elite prospects, the hockey news, etc.

Thanks <3. But the thing is, he came at me with that offer stating that he needed a D-man and wanted to shed cap so I simply said no more and sent it in LOL.

Anyhow, my team is hit by the IR bug once again, with 5 players being out already. Atleast it was not like last year with 9? :/

Hey guys, I’m incredibly busy this upcoming week and have been for the past week or so as well.

To make sure that we’re not dropping the ball (as I already have), along with myself, please tag @Master Mind in the future when sending FA offers.

edit: to be clear, I’m still on CDC a fair bit, so if you have any questions, concerns, etc, I can still answer them. But as for the signing commissioner role, after this week, I’ll be a little more free to field offers on players :)

Have the Blue Jackets Staalled?

By Aaron Porkrind, Columbus Dispatch

Less than a week ago, the Blue Jackets were sitting in first place - not only in the division, but in the whole league. The top line of Brad Marchand, Mark Scheifele, and Phil Kessel was firing on all cylinders. Also, Victor Arvidsson and Brian Dumoulin were playing some of the best hockey of their careers. Some others who had a slow start were starting to find their way, including goaltenders Martin Jones and Sergei Bobrovsky. It seemed the team was poised to not only defend the Cup this Spring, but to make a serious shot at the regular season title as well.

Then inexplicably, the team dealt a core player, one of the top "2nd line" players in the league, Eric Staal. Although fans understand the cap concerns for next year, most agree that the window is open now, and don't think the move to acquire some futures depth was worth it. Their concerns were certainly not quieted by Staal's 13.5-point night yesterday for his new team. This, added to an injury to franchise defenseman Victor Hedman, has given reason for concern. The team has slipped to 4th overall, and fallen 32.25 points behind their divisional rival, the despicable New York Rangers. Given the strength of the Metro division (which has 4 teams in the top-7 right now!), winning the division should be a priority, which makes the move to deal Staal all the more puzzling.

There are also some rumours that the goaltending situation is becoming untenable. The impending free agency and early-season struggles of 2-time Vezina winner Sergei Bobrovsky, combined the solid play of Martin Jones and David Rittich, has led many to believe that GM D-Money is seeking to trade Bobrovsky to upgrade other positions. After all, you can only start one goaltender. However, the official line from management is that they are willing to keep the status quo for now, and let Sergei find his game before exploring trade options.

Crunch-time!

On a positive note, prospect defenseman Nick Desimone is tearing up the AHL right now, with 7 points and a +4 in 9 games played. His partner on the first pair Devon Toews is putting up solid points as well. It seems only a matter of time before one of them gets a call-up, especially with Hedman on I/R. But with those 2, Daniel Brickley, Libor Hajek, Johnathan Kovacevic, and Joni Tuulola, the AHL blueline is quite stacked ATM, and might be a bit too crowded to allow for proper development. But rumour has it that one of the aforementioned players has been moved in a TBA deal to shore up the forward ranks.
