Okay, so I know I said I'd be back after this weekend, but instead, after I have one more trade go through, I'll be withdrawing from CDC entirely for hopefully only a couple weeks. Maybe shorter if everything works out.

During the time I'm away, please contact @Master Mind for things you would normally PM me for (signings, etc.).

Thanks,

Jazz

Alex Chiasson available, quietly putting up over 5 fp/g on a playoff position Oilers team and 500k salary after retainment. Looking for picks.

That's particularly bad form

Just a reminder that the sign and trade penalty exists. The sooner a player is traded after being signed, the longer the penalty lasts.

And what would that penalty be? There is nothing in the rules section about it.

Since I'm still around tying up loose ends, there's nothing specifically listed as a sign-and-trade penalty, except:

  • If you trade the player soon after matching an offer sheet, it will be counted as a sign-and-trade - which carries unspecific penalties when attempting to sign UFAs, as well as when negotiating with your existing UFAs/RFAs.

We generally bar the team that completes the sign-and-trade from signing contracts for 1-2 months. Could be longer, depending on the star status of the player traded.

Would be good for that to be clear in the contracts section if there actually are penalties associated with it

Blue Jackets are hanging in there, despite injuries to Victor Hedman, Viktor Arvidsson, Derick Brassard, and Zac Rinaldo.

One thing that has helped is a number of young forwards getting into NHL games recently, including Michael Amadio, Maxim Mamin, Rourke Chartier, and Matt Luff. However, I had hoped for the same with some higher-profile D prospects, like Daniel Brickley and Devon Toews. I would be interested in a deal to package 1 or 2 of the above forwards with another D prospect for a single, waiver-ineligible D who is playing NHL games.

It's under the trade section. Debatable whether it should be under trades or contracts since it applies to both, but it is there.
