No judgement here from my side, and I hope none flies back, but I want to admit i have spent 27 years working towards Oct 17th. I am a card carrying member of a political party and worked on the policy platform that led to this month coming to be. ; )

this version we ended up with is not the original vision we had at our round tables as far back as when Stephan Dion was running for Prime Minister..but over time and with broad consultation this is what we ended up with. I view it as a 'foot in the door' bill. legalize it to fulfill the promise and in later years tweak it as we collectively learn more and the fear that some people have of decriminalization fades away.

The only really important thing i wanted to say is that my buddies kids are both young epileptics, the toddler girl suffered 20 plus seizures a day but with an extract from cannabis oils and a really tightly watched special diet, she is down to one seizure a month! When I was 17 i wanted to smoke weed all day every day..then I abstained for the duration of my federal career and now I find relief from nightmares by eating it about the time the first game of the double header is ending and puck drop is about to start in Vancouver....no nightmares, every night...as opposed to before i started eating it where i had nightmares literally every night and never got to rem sleep. My blood oxygen levels were 55% of normal before this, and with the edibles and a CPAP machine I am up to 93%!!

shrug, there are lefts and rights and centers in canadian politics but we are all close as fingers on the same hand...relative to world wide spectrum of political stripes. I wish all my fellow Canucks the very best of health, no matter where we fall into the political spectrum...okay nuff said. Game On!

I knew @Wilb troubles but did not know he has passed away.

I feel very saddened by this news.

Had a great few hours with Lachie brother, we watched the highlights package of last night's game and he asked about me taking him skating.

Wilb (Darren) left us but he isn't forgotten.

I'm honoured to carry on his legacy as the new GM of the Dallas Stars.

People tend to focus on the recreational part of legalization. The medicinal part will change the world. Pros will outweigh the cons

My 76yo mother has made a killing on the stocks so far, due to that.

I'm not sure of the efficacy of the total market, or where it peaks, but I think she's up over 250% in 9 months. Aurora and Canopy seem to be the big movers on the TSX.

but well ...yes we are like a family ... sometimes good times ...also bad times

sadly we lost one part of this family with @Wilb but life goes on ...like in your case

i hope alll will went fine with you and your kid ...thats the most important thing

So I've been a member on CDC since back in 2003, I unfortunately didn't know wilb, I only knew him from lurking through here.  I just went back and read his post when he announced he was stepping down as a gm and it was very sad.  Especially reading everyone's posts after.

RIP Wilb

I think if people debated politics like do with sports we would solve a lot more problems. It’s good to talk and debate politics with people who have different views than you, it’s how you learn. Nothing frustrates me more than when a liberal supporter will refuse to talk to a conservative supporter, or the other way around, just because they have different opinions.

So in other words I’d love to hear what you have to say, and it wouldn’t effect my opinion of you :)

Agreed

That has the potential to go both ways, if they come under expectations. There is the possibility of diluted value.

The major factor for Aurora is that they've been leveraging their assets to make capital acquisitions of smaller companies to shore up their supply chain, with the hope of lowering their costs of production and distribution. Their first few quarters after legalization will show whether they can actualize on enough revenue to justify that outlay. They have to sell a lot of quantity to prove those are real assets and not just ones that look good on a general ledger. Corporate partnerships with companies like Coca-Cola might be promising steps.

Awesome! I took a bite at Canopy and Tilray, both have been strong so far.

Im long term confident in Canopy, after the repeated large investments from Constellation Brands. As long as hey keep showing support, I’m stayin :)

Tilray has a bit of overhype, due to success in the states, which lead to heavy front end jump-ins. I’m looking to sell 1/2 of it when I get home (probably after the 17th), and roll to HEXO, who is currently an underdog, but is lined-up to establish a cannabis beverage agreement with Molson Coors. Cannabis beverages are on EVERY street corner her in Europe!

Cryptocurrency was a fad, and has no consumer protection or industry regulation... this is the real deal, and possibly our best chance at ground floor investment in our lifetime.

WEED on the tsx inflated over its own real capital value and then suffered from it..i think it bounced back now though, and yes WEED is its ticker abbreviation.

Lol, that’s hillarious. That said, it’s name will be it’s own downfall. Big market has cold-shouldered better investments for less.

In Vancouver, there’s a landscape company called ‘pimp my yard’... I’m sure it sounded funny over a couple beers with his buddies, but 1/2 of the city wouldn’t even want the truck parked out front of their homes.

Cater to your market.

It's a very rare situation because these companies are entering what is already a mature market. That really never happens.

I think diversifying across a number of different companies that are in this emerging sales channel is wise. We don't know who is going to come out on top but somebody will. Most of the eventual other 'also-rans' will eventually be conglomerated into the winners, resulting in compensatory shares being given out. I imagine very few will ever go completely bankrupt.

A company I’ve bought into called Auxly Cannabis group (formerly Cannabis Wheaton) has a unique business model. The people involved at the corporate level have a lot of experience.

I think with the US removing CDB from their schedule 1 list it’s going to be a game changer
