LOL, go cheer on another team. You have successfully negged every single promising prospect. You should change your name to Watchin<insert team>.

What do you mean "Pettersson only broke records in SHL"? That record hadn't been touched for over 30 years. The people who produced in that league like Pettersson did all went on to become NHLer regulars.

I don't believe you're here to discuss anything except to troll, so I'll save myself some time from typing more. I'll end with - you are wrong.

You clearly misread everything the previous poster said. All of which was  positive with regards to our up and coming prospects with a heavy dose of rhetoric for all the so called knowledgeble fans that have opinions regarding everything the Canucks do.

So remind me again who did Alex Burmistrov out play in preseason that earned him a spot over Brock Boeser? Cause I remember him being in a bunch of games to start the season, because he was a newly signed vet, he was gifted a spot, and he was only on a 1 year $900,000 contract. But no that will never happen again, if they earn it they’ll be in the lineup. I’ll believe it when I see it.

remind me again who ended up getting repetitively scratched and who eventually got beat out for a spot and is no longer in the league? Well your at it remind me as well who played 62 games with us last year and would have played more if not for injury?Your issue is?

When it comes down to it, Canucks have to try to do what they feel is best for our young players development. If the best thing for them is to play with the parent club then fine. But if there are recognized areas which  are seen as weaknesses in their game and which could prove  to be detrimental to their development then let our future core players marinate a bit. What is the issue with that? Pretty simple if you ask me.

My issue is as soon as we see a path for our young players to make the team, bam vets get signed and creates a roadblock. When the time comes and they prove to be ready, will Benning actually pull the trigger getting assets and clearing a path. Goldobin or Boucher could have used those games Burmistrov got for some more nhl experience, if not Archibald could. Sometimes in order for prospects to have confidence the coach needs to show he has some in them. Last year Green had confidence in vets, and set a standard for rookies far above what he had for vets. It was unrealistic expectations. Still remember Goldobin having a great game scored a goal and was promptly benched the rest of the game (was WD but still) for making a mistake. No prospect is going to come in and be perfect. Green was brought in to work with young players cause we were supposed to have a young team, we got older, why?

Really hoping at least one of them makes it, perhaps both.  Have to keep bringing the youth in.

From Benning's demeanor yesterday, even if they don't make any moves before camp I don't think it changes his mind.  If Hughes earns a spot and we can't move anyone, we stick someone on waivers on the last day before the roster has to be set.

Agreed, but there is a reason that the deal hasn't been done yet. I'm just guessing obviously, but it would make more sense to try to make a trade and get some assets instead of just waiving our signed players. The blueliners who could possibly be waived are Hutton and Biega. I fully expect Biega to be waived and Hutton is the other possibility. Biega will clear, but Hutton would be a waiver risk and wouldn't be a player that I would give away for free.

When nhl rosters are being set, the chances that Hutton and his $2.8M wouldn't clear should he fail to be better than our 8the best D, would be slim.

All those teams did exactly what Vancouver is doing....that is what is so funny and that is where that "came from".   In fact, most took longer to do it than it appears it will take Vancouver.

You seem to be a plastic fan - one that only likes a team when it is at the top of a cycle else you would clearly see what this team is doing and be excited about the future which looks pretty damn exciting.

Why are you making things up about me?

I joined this forum in 2015, right when the Canucks were at their peak I guess.

Because your posts fit the definition of what a plastic fan is.   I am not making it up, you are doing it by what you post.

So from what I’m hearing is that if Olli Juolevi, Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson, Jonathan Dahlen, Adam Gaudette, Goldobin, Leipsic come into camp are the best players they will all make the team. Great I’m on board, if they all make the team I’ll be super happy. I honestly think those players will

show the best in preseason but I have very little hope they all make the team. I hope Benning keeps his word to do that, but I don’t think he will period.

So you follow a team where you don't believe anything their management says?    That must be very hard for you.

Bringing in the Hobey Baker award winner last year Adam Gaudette could not possibly help, just look at Will Butcher, Alex Kerfoot or Brock Boeser, god knows they didn’t help, it’s just too big a jump from college to nhl. Jonathan Dahlen who carried his team to the SHL surely can’t be an improvement on Gagner, even though he has great chemistry with Pettersson. Pettersson only broke records in SHL, which seems to have earned himself a spot, but not at his natural position of centre. Leipsic and Goldobin might as well just give them away to make room for all stars Jay Beagle and Tim Schaller. Quinn Hughes is too small and young to make the team, looked good playing against nhl players at world championship but small sample size, so better to keep floundering nhl players over larger sample size on a defence that looks primed to make zero changes. That should be a big improvement on one of the lowest scoring defences. Olli Juolevi is being called a bust cause Sergachev made it to nhl ahead of him, better stick him in AHL.

This is how positive Watchincanucks is about the Canucks prospects.

- Gaudette made no impact compared to Will Butcher, Alex Kerfoot or Brock Boeser, even though all three of them were more or less regulars for their team.

- Jonathan Dahlen, who hasn't played a single NHL game yet, is in his opinion, 'surely' not an improvement on Gagner. No substance whatsoever in his opinion.

- Pettersson "only" broke records in SHL. His inclusion of the word "only" is obviously used to denigrate the success of Pettersson. Completely wipes it out. Never mind the fact that he broke a 30+ year record. Never mind the fact that the players that were on pace with him eventually became NHL players (Nilsson, Forsberg, Backstrom, Sedins, Nylander, etc etc).

- Leipsic and Goldobin aren't going to outplay Jay Beagle and Tim Schaller - even though those players have absolutely nothing to do with the former two player's positions. He is basically saying that those two aren't good enough to make an impact.

- Quinn Hughes is too small and young to make the team (says it like it's a sure thing).

- Olli Juolevi being called a bust by other people is somehow a persuasive argument to put him in the AHL - even though training camp hasn't started and we haven't seen Juolevi play on NHL ice. Yeah, he's probably not good enough for Watchincanucks.

Tell me which part of this was 'positive' to you? Are you high on glue?

Well Benning said the same thing before Stetcher was by far our best player in the preseason but had to wait for injuries. Then Boeser was our best player and sat for first 2 games in favour of Burmistrov. So in my eyes he does not have a good track record of keeping his word. Other examples Too, Tryamkin had a hard time getting in lineup, ice time was low even when he was often a force. Virtanen would get scratched even after good games. It just seems to me rookies have to do more than vets, not just to make the team but also to get ice time. Would like the bar to be set evenly. Rookie makes a mistake, he’s benched, vet makes a mistake, doesn’t miss a shift. When he used Stetcher as an example of how he would make room for young players was laughable. He did not make room he had an injury and had to call up someone. That he was too good to take out is not the same as making the team.

For the record I was being sarcastic, read my posts. I am all about getting rookies in the lineup. It was a response to another post, of how they could not make the team over our vets.

Stecher had things to work on in the minors in the opinion of the coach -  you disagree.

Boeser looked tired and needed to watch a couple of games from the box in the opinion of the coach (different coach) - you disagree.

Virtanen had things to work on in the eyes of the coach - you disagree.

NEITHER of these decisions had anything to do with Benning other than I suspect he was informed they were happening but given it was beginning of season in each case, why would he be concerned.

You simply have a disagreement with the coaching of the team and think the GM is a liar.  Again, this must be very difficult for you.

Further, how on earth do you get Burmistrov started instead of Boeser - not only do they play different positions, they are totally different players.

Wow sure set me straight, what was I thinking. Yep not like a GM has anything to do with the personnel. Coach did not send Stetcher to minors, Benning did. I assume coach and GM talk about the lineup before making decisions. Last I checked Benning is Greens boss, so final say is his. If he says Stetcher was best player on the ice, he makes the team, no questions asked. Green decides his ice time.

Plastic Fans

"Rather, the title of a plastic fan is conferred to those people for whom it is more important to gloat about winning over actually watching the game and enjoying it. Instead of supporting their team by either watching or trying to find out who performed and who did not, they wait for the game to be over simply so that they can come online and rub it in the face of hapless rival fans."

So what do you call the ones like Mustapha who only come in after losses to rub it in the face of Canuck fans?

Oh I’m almost certain they don’t all make the team. I’m not being negative, I just don’t see Benning doing what he keeps promising. That if young players come in and earn a spot he will get them in. He has not shown he is willing to do it. He keeps signing vets filling the spots young players should be playing in. What trade has Benning made early in the season to make room for a player? He waits for injuries, and I hope we don’t waste the first 20 waiting to get a player into the lineup.

Bo Horvat? Jake Virtanen (perhaps not the right decision, but he definitely earned it)? Brock Boeser?
