Well Benning said the same thing before Stetcher was by far our best player in the preseason but had to wait for injuries. Then Boeser was our best player and sat for first 2 games in favour of Burmistrov. So in my eyes he does not have a good track record of keeping his word. Other examples Too, Tryamkin had a hard time getting in lineup, ice time was low even when he was often a force. Virtanen would get scratched even after good games. It just seems to me rookies have to do more than vets, not just to make the team but also to get ice time.Would like the bar to be set evenly. Rookie makes a mistake, he’s benched, vet makes a mistake, doesn’t miss a shift. When he used Stetcher as an example of how he would make room for young players was laughable. He did not make room he had an injury and had to call up someone. That he was too good to take out is not the same as making the team.

Since when does the General Manager make decisions on ice time and who gets scratched?

Good. Now we have that over with we can stop fretting on how we could possibly make room for him :lol:

How many are going to label him a bust now ;) (not me, looking forward to seeing him in Vancouver next year)

Dumb question, but how the hell do you embed a tweet? I've been here for years and never been able to figure it out xD

Right click the time stamp and copy link address. Paste and wait for CDC to load it.

If any other dman drafted after Hughes makes the NHL, then we will apparently have drafted the wrong dman.

This is good news IMO, Pettersson for Calder this season and Hughes for next season!

Except next year it will be a battle between the Hughes Bros for Calder!  (And they will be playing on the same team ..... has that ever happened before?)

I had a feeling he was leaning towards going back to Michigan as it was taking awhile to make a decision.  I think it’s a great decision for his development. It was well thought out, discussed and considered .  He will be ready to jump into the NHL after next season if not sooner.  Looking forward to following him at Michigan next season.

Just waiting for everyone to wake up to this news and let the freaking out commence lol.

Depending on his season in Michigan, could likely see him later this season.

Added bonus, this probably nets us a better pick at 2019 draft too

The down side of that is they will lose a year of his contract for a handful of games.  I'd much rather have seen him play in Utica this season, but it's his choice.

Yeah, probably see a repeat of Boeser and Gaudette next Spring, depending how his team does.  He's in a good program and should really dominate this year, and has lots of opportunity now to clean up what he needs to in his game to prepare for the pros (now with some direction from a pro team), and of course continue to work on the proverbial strength and fitness.  Gives us the opportunity to work in others like Sautner, McEneny, and hopefully Juolevi through out the year, see if Hutton and Pouliot continue to stagnate or develop and improve, then decide which assets to move out.

Meh, we were likely going to lose a year one way or another. He goes back to the program he originally committed to, can get some education and this route offers the most gym time out of the three options, which is probably the thing he 'needs' the most work on.
