Both Mario and Wayne were phenoms.  Quinn Hughes is a phenom too.  With Pettersson, Brock, and Jack (Hughes) up front, I can see Quinn Hughes getting to 100 points.

And Elias in the 150 pt range! Elias himself makes players around him better! Add Quinn to the mix and wow!

He's not a tier down, Mario is at the very least equal to Gretzky. They were in the same level and every other player in the league were 5 notches down.

Nope pull up top 25 points totals in nhl history yes that's Wayne in 1 2 3 and four

Gretzky points per game 1.92

Lemuiex points per game 1.88

Lemuiex also lost 22 games in 1990 to non Hodgkins lymphoma around Christmas but still managed to score 160 points in the 60 games he played winning the Art Ross. That also prorates to 218 points over 82 which is good enough to beat Gretzky's 215

As far as I'm concerned lemuiex is the better player, put up enormous numbers for a guy who was riddled with health issues and was even a force in the dead puck era. There is really only 1 stat that is a glaring difference and that is playoff points. However the majority of Gretzky's (1.83 ppg) came in the high scoring '80s vs lemuiex (1.60 ppg) who got his in the '90s

Maybe it's time to get back to talking about Quinn Hughes now

I love Mario, but I doubt you'll many hockey people who would remotely agree with you.  Gretzky is probably the most dominant athlete of all time.

Mario was amazing, but Gretzky is beyond compare.

Want to guess whos number 1? Enough hockey people for you? Hull, Hawerchuk, Ferraro, most notable is McSorley and Robitaille whos played with BOTH

Love it. Soft spoken kid. Hope he enjoys the city while hes here, he sounds legit excited as the fans even though his demeanor is very calm

He is a serious kid. Very competitive. He has been bred to be a hockey player from a young age.

Big advantage for him was his dad was the Leafs director of prospect development, ironically when Josh Leivo was his age just starting his pro career in the Leafs organization.

Long lineage of athletes and hockey players in his family tree.

He should have no problem adjusting to the pro lifestyle including training and nutrition.

I think a fair expectation of his play style and points in his first full NHL season will be to another undersized left hand d-man, on the Avalanche, in Samuel Girard.

Both are very elusive skaters that can turn on a dime to avoid checks and make plays.

Both are offensive guys who like to join the rush and get up in the play to support the forwards.

...On a side note... No.6 on the list is Kent Nilsson.. The player who's records in Sweden was broken by none other than Elias Pettersson... The sky's the limit for for our Alien...

Are we limiting him to 9 games?  That is the smartest move - one one that we really need to be doing.

9 home games left?  Or will he be out a few more games with the foot injury anyways?

the message that sends to him is that we take every step we can to win - including managing contracts.  Or do you think it sends a negative message to him?

Just looking back at drafts since 2012 and noticed that every single NCAA defenceman drafted in the top 15 has gone on to become a pretty good NHLer. Trouba, Hanifin, Werenski, McAvoy.

that's a pretty miniscule sample.

edit: also, did you stop at 2012 because jamie oleksiak (2011) and derek forbort (2010) turned your 100% success rate into 67%?
