Wow, never knew about that. Usually with those things where there is smoke there is fire, unfortunately. I know Benning seems to value character VERY highly so it was a lock he wasn't coming to the Canucks in their minds I guess. This was kept pretty quiet - at least to ears I know about. Woo the right pick Thanks, I was wondering why Wilde fell so far when he was expected by most (I think) to go in the mid-1st round. I said last night that I would be delighted to get Samuelsson or Wilde, happy with McIsaac, and okay with Woo. Samuelsson went first in the second round and McIsaac went just before the Canucks picked. And if Wilde has character issues, then Woo looks like the right choice. Popular Post Odd.
Mean, physical, smooth skating defenseman with an offensive upside. The ideal Quinn Hughes partner. Juolevi, Hughes, now Woo. Our defense is really shaping up. 5

Smashian Kassian
Seems to keep it simple offensively. Good at getting the puck on net quickly, that will serve him well. I like this pick. Maybe a Bieksa-like guy for us down the road? Edited June 23, 2018 by Smashian Kassian

Popular Post Rush17
Book of Black: Jet Woo: Jett Woo is a very strong old school defensive defenseman. Unfortunately Jett suffered two injuries which forced him to miss a significant amount of time this year. Jett scored 9 goals and 25 point in 44 games. When Jett was in the lineup he was one of Moose Jaw’s best defenseman. Every night he would be tasked with shutting down the opposing teams best players. Defensively Jett is one of the best in the league. He is always in the right spot to make the play. Going back to retrieve the puck his head is always up and on a swivel. Jett seldom loses a puck battle. His strength allows him to absorb and check and often times do more damage to the fore-checking player. Jett makes an excellent first pass out of his zone. Consistently on the tape to lead the player and never put them in harms way. Physical play is a major part of Jett’s game. He will punish anyone entering the zone with his head down. Jett does not back down from any challenge. He will stick up for his teammates, but rarely takes undisciplined penalties. Jett’s skating is surprisingly strong with and without the puck. With the puck has the ability to skate the puck to safety and slow the play down or turn in up and go end to end. Without the puck his acceleration is great. The one knock on Jett is his offensive abilities. We don’t feel he will ever be a high scoring defenseman at the NHL level. His shot is below average when he uses it, which is rare. He doesn’t use the slap shot at all. He does have the ability to make players miss at the blue line with his hands. However, if he does make the player miss he will often pass or use a bank off the boards to create a scoring chance. Overall we feel Jett is one of the better defensive defenseman in the draft. He has the ability to make the great first pass. Jett is without a doubt one of the strongest players on the ice every night, rarely losing a puck battle. His offensive shortcomings can be improved. His injury riddled season may be a factor if he slides a bit in the upcoming draft. 4
