Just looking if it could develop. Interesting draft order with a team in the top 4 that doesn't really need the pick. The assets are there, it just depends on how much and if JB is willing to pay. JB is going to have to make a serrious move this off season, maybe it's at the draft.... I will go on record as saying that I am happy at the 10 spot. But it wouldn't surprise me if we moved the pick.

He won't even turn 18 until June 13th. Think about this for a moment. It wouldn't surprise me if he went 2nd overall. He's THAT good imo. I think he could definitely go as high as 2nd but im basing projections on team needs crossed with the available talent.
Nucker 67
Byram is this year's Makar. He's going to be great for another team. I watched the U18 tournament, and I feel that there are certain players that have "difference maker, leader, dominance", and then some that looked pretty good, but didn't blow me away with anything special (Cozens, Zegras, Boldy, etc). I really liked this U18 because it shows these prospects in comparison to their peers. These are the players that stood out for me most in that tournament, and that I can see becoming great NHL players: Hughes Turcotte Krebs Caufield Podkolzin Broberg Brink Grewe Rees

For example, if Turcotte's ceiling is Bergeron and floor is Kadri, it's a pretty safe pick that will be rewarding. Caufield has potential to be Debrincat, but if he ends up being like Gerbe (is this guy really 5'4?), then do you take that risk? Podkolzin could become a Nichushkin is more of a floor comparison I think. That Zegras floor comparison could be frightening. That was my thinking when i was doing it. Some prospects have boom or bust potential (Broberg, Podkolzin). From what i have read and watched it looks like Turcotte, Cozens and Soderstrom are supposed to be players with lower bust potential. Soderstrom apparently also with a lower ceiling than some others but hes starting to grow on me. Looking at Zegras a more today I think Gagner is an unfair comparison as Zegras plays with a little bit of grit to his game and Gagner is as soft as baby crap.

They'll all grow up, become men, and some will make the NHL, some won't. It's nice that some of the prospects are already playing against men, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be better players once they get to the NHL, if they get there. It's too bad Seider, Lavoie, Kaliyev, Kakko etc. weren't in this tournament.
HockeyHarry
It’s going to be one crazy draft, there’s so many choices. A draft that will have a huge impact for the Canucks for years to come. Top 6 or a top 4 Dman.... I think it’s safer getting a top 6 forward then hoping for a top 4 Dman. That said I would like the Canucks to pick a forward this draft. IMO Colorado is the most likely target. They are in a win now mode and are having a stellar playoffs. CHI could go for anyone, NYR have a thing for going off board and for Russians, so the may have Podz rated pretty high. NJ could really like Kakko. With NJ needing a PF really badly, NYR being a team that goes off board and for Russians more than any other team I can think of and CHI needing help up front as much or more than defence... This draft is being phoned in atm, but there is real potential for a unpredictable start in the top 3. Next to drafting JH, the biggest splash JB could make would be getting the home town kid and a massive team need at the same time. Bryam. Not saying it would happen, but it wouldn't come cheap. Our 10th and one to two good young players and more maybe. Going to get the popcorn out and spend the day being a coach potato. Big splash indeed. Followed by a clockwise flush down the toilet, with his career. JBx2’s game is drafting. Finding the real gems from the first round, and working with the picks they have already taken. Moving up would cost the canucks far too much in long term development and set them back. Benning needs to work on last years positive season, and string them together, or else frankies going to fire him and hire someone who will go full on peenie measurements and trade the whole team for inches. 1

So if his development stalled right now he'd still be at par with Edler is what you're saying. Odd. Funny I heard Broberg has limited offensive potential. Soderstrom is the D we should target. Or try to maybe acquire a 2nd 1st and take a forward and maybe Harley if we can get a top 15 pick. Broberg has a terrible hockey IQ from the games I have seen. For that guy to compare him to Edler is just hilarious. Eagle plays on a bad back every game of his life and still munches minutes and his PPG was .63

Throw in the fact that many on that list were underwhelming to start their careers. Just shows a guy at 5th 7th or 21st, can be better there the first year in the NHL than guys drafted in the top 3. Even Mack took a while to put it all together. kot was really not that special and was benched for the last part of the season. Miro had 33 points and the worst analytics on his team. Tho he will get better, But at this point Makar all the way. Nico and Patrick have done nothing to warrant their draft picks. Larkin Charlie went back to college. Aho went back to Europe I believe. Mark didn't make it his first year. and the older players you mentioned are all first ballot HOFS Not one of our elite guys you mentioned went straight to the NHL. Not sure this post was very accurate. I could make a list of guys like Barzel Point Bo ETC who were picked higher who made the jump. Unless you have a Crosby or McDavid its a crapshoot. 1

I agree. JB will get the right guy at 10. this is a very weird draft where a guy like Dach or Krewbs or boldy may still be available. I like Bowen, But we are flush with lefties In Q OJ Tram Rathbone Edler Just don't see the point. I would much rather JB sign Lee or Panerin, and try for EK while while giving Woo a shot and finding a new home for Tanev Sutter who if people think he is untradable don't get what he brings when healthy, especially if we eat a mill. Loui can be moved to a team like the sens who need 46 million just to reach the cap floor. That opens up 14 mill plus the 27 we already have. Forget giving away our young core for a maybe. When we havew the dough to actually aquire guys that have Vancouver on the list of the only Canadian team they would even talk to. This team I bet starts training camp without Loui and Sutter. Loiu is actually a decent player who just makes about 2 mill to muchh
