Like all players (I think) he would save $1.075M off his cap hit if we buried him in Abbotsford. I get the feeling Green will want to keep him in Vancouver though. Coaches love guys they can rely on for difficult minutes against offensive stars.

Going to have to disagree on this one.

Don't think any opposing offensive star is looking at 36 y/o Jay Beagle and thinking, "crap this might make things more difficult."

Why the hate for analytics? It's good to use a balance of eye test and analytics to analyze players.

Beagle's okay as a filler as we lack C depth but overall he's not a great 4C at this point of his career for a team looking to compete, and he's overpaid.

Doubt opposing offensive stars will be facing aging 4th liners like Beagle (unless Willie D is the coach in his 1-2-3-4 vs line matching) too much in any event.

Which would still be fine if we didn't have that six million dollar 4th line winger Loui.

He was nitpicking and using very selective stats to prove his point that Beagle only played against bums or dredge of the NHL. For example, Oldnews was using stats then he would criticize those stats and only his stats were relevant.

He was then very insulting to all the other posters while stating that we were doing it to him.

We all agree that he is getting older and will need to be replaced. However, he is still effective and he is a good leader to have.

and he is 11th worst in the league!

you're like a beagle on a hamburger with these stats ::D

but you didn't answer my question, do you think Beagle was a net contributor on the 2017/18 cup team?

don't stop being you Boi.

But if thats true, do yourself a favour and re-watch the 17/18 Washington games and report back.

analyzing the stats from his playoffs in 2017/2018 i would say yes.

his 13 games in 2016/2017 weren't so hot though

but what about his 17/18 regular season stats? they aren't appreciably different from any of his other years. A few more pucks went that usual for him but thats about it.

I really do think you should watch the WSH games if you can find them on youtube, its a good example of how sometimes the stats alone can be a big disconnect from a players actual impact.

Jay is good people, you should at least watch the games before going this heavy on him, just my 2 cents.

Beagle's a good guy.

Just think he's too slow to keep pace in the league now...

I mean, he's faster than Sutter, maybe

But that's like saying a turtle is faster than a slug....

It ain't saying much. lol
