Good afternoon, This is a difficult day, as I am writing to let you know that I am leaving my role as President of Hockey Operations for the Vancouver Canucks...

This team and this game hold a special place in my life and I leave very optimistic about the direction the Canucks are headed.

Most of all I am excited about the highly skilled group of prospects and young stars that we have assembled. From ownership to hockey and business operations, the club is as strong as its been in years. Above it all, I can feel our fans' sense of hope again and I know the future for the Canucks is very bright.

I love this city and this province, and I will always have a special relationship with this team and Canucks fans. I am going to step back from the spotlight for a while and enjoy the summer with my young family.

Thank you all for your amazing support. I am sure I will see you around town.

Trevor

Yeah, it felt like he was doing this as a favour to the team when they needed him.  Maybe he feels that it's time for Benning to step into that role himself.

I agree with you on this one. I never felt that Linden wanted to be the guy, that it was more of him continuing to do what is best for the Canucks organization and perhaps the Canucks fans. I think people are going to read too much into this. He had a job to do, and that was to be the public voice and face the media like the true Captain he is...thank you for everything Trevor and best of luck in whatever your future holds...

It makes sense to me. He was here in part because he could deflect a bit of negative attention away from the team while the rebuild starts. Now that the team has a very solid prospect pool, a more experienced Hockey Ops guy can come in to help push the team over the hump.

If they hire Weisbrod, I'm cancelling my season ticket membership. They can keep the deposit.

Would you prefer an owner like Melnyk? :o

No owner is perfect but I'd rather have an owner that is willing to spend $$$$  (see the Whitecaps for a more local example).

Say what you want about Melmac but he doesn't claim to be a hands off owner and then meddle in every single aspect of the organization.   Is he a dufus,  sure he is but he doesn't claim to be anything else.   Aquaman has consistently claimed he has zero to do with hockey operations which nobody in their right mind believes.  I'm convinced Trevor left because he was tired of Aquaman meddling and then having tp publicly tow the line that Aquaman gives them free reign when that wasn't happening. People who claim he was a good owner just because he spent money are very naive.   What did Aquaman do for this franchise that the majority of other owners don't already do for their own teams?

Very weird timing. In that mic’d up draft video they put together I noticed Trevor sitting off to the side not really involved and thought that was a little odd.

I don't know anything of course, but what influence does he have in the organization, really?

Jim calls all the shots. Aquaman signs all the contracts.

What did Trevor do except deal with the media and talk to the players?

I didn’t see it coming but now that it happened I’m not surprised.

He never looked 100% comfortable in the role and this rough patch would have been tough for anyone.

Anywho, I still appreciate the work he did, as I’m excited for the future!  All the best to him.

Wow, what’s going on?

My feeling exactly. Yes there were rumours during the season but there are always rumours. I will be interested to see if we actually get more of the story.

Do we know how long his contract was?

Was he at the end of his contract?

Why not take some part-time in the organization (Advisor to the President of something like that).

Was he pushed or did he really want out? Or was it a bit of both?

If he did want out, why?

On one level I'm surprised, disappointed, and sad to see him leave the position. I wanted him to lead this new era team to victory.

On another level, it seemed like there was some reluctance in taking the job of President at the very beginning. In that respect, it always felt like his time as President wouldn't be long-term.

The guy stepped in to lead the organization through one of it's most difficult times and shouldered a lot of challenges and negativity when he really didn't have to at all.

Thank you, Trevor! Much respect!
