At the moment yes, but if Skinner walks at the end of the year I'm not so sure.

Carolina got the best they could for a player that was likely not to re-sign

I think Skinner will want to continue playing with Dahlin and Eichel.
Buffalo will be hugely improved this year.

DONT FORGET THAT DON WADDELL RAN THE THRASHERS INTO THE GROUND MAKING BAD DEALS!

Good deal for Buffalo. They're clearly going for a Playoff Spot this year after securing Dahlin. Skinner is a 1 year rental, sort of like Kawhi Leonard of the NBA's Toronto Raptors. Instead of overpaying at the deadline, Buffalo pays for Skinner now and then spends the year trying to convince him to sign long term/see if he's a good fit for them long term.

Carolina gets a bit of an underwhelming package for Skinner, the face of there franchise for the last few years, but he's essentially a rental so they got a pretty okay haul. Nothing spectacular but nothing to ride home about either.

Dont disagree, curious timing for the deal. I wonder if CAR could have gotten more at the deadline. Hard to say.

Maybe a Faulk deal is coming soon

I've always liked BUF. I was a huge fan of LaFontaine and Mogilny.

And then we traded Peca for a Mogilny and I was always a big Peca fan too.

BUF will be a really good team soon.  Next cpl years they'll be a playoff team and sky is the limit after that.

Dahlin has really put them over the top for up and coming teams

I agree. I don't mind this trade for Carolina. Pu, 2nd, 3rd, 6th for a 50 point player that will probably command $6+M over 6 or 7 years. That's actually a decent haul IMO.
