Blue Jay 22
Tampa does. Why would they pay us Foote to absorb Ryan's salary when he is Ottawa's property and problem? He should be swapped out with something from Ottawa. If the Senators want to make Ryan part of the deal, it will come at their expense, not Tampa's. Senators hit the jackpot here. They get a good haul and have another team take on Ryan's salary without having to reduce their package or give up assets? Doesn't seem like Dorion has the required brain power to pull that off, nor would Stevie Y allow that to happen.

Yeah we should definitely be fine to re-sign Boeser unless he wants 10mil or something. But the next 3-4 years will be pretty nip and tuck with both Ryan and Eriksson's contracts honestly. Gotta say I am not interested in taking in Ryan. That's one too many bad contracts for my blood. We'll get decent assets now that we'll end up spending down the road just to move him or Eriksson anyway. Lol

What exactly is Vancouver sending out in this trade? At the very least they have to throw in the good old “future considerations” to either Tampa or Ottawa. combover
6 mill eriksdone 21/22 7.5mill Ryan 21/22 30% of karson thats of the rest of this contract Id hope not the 11+mill one he’s about to sign maybe more if he’s a ufa. And Ntc on both And not to mention the NTC and overpayment for the next four for beagle Roussel. bad contracts are plentiful in Vancouver without any help of other teams. Taking on any more unmovable bad deals could/would hurt Vancouver’s future when we are stuck paying aged vets instead of youth and the future or we have to give up picks and prospects to move them away. And that’s if those players would even agree to be moved. Can Tampa afford cap wise another 11mill cap hit or to let that much youth leave there team. For vancouver I’d say no. Pepe Silvia
I'd say no. We're paying $7.25m for 4 years just to get Foote.

Alflives
Ottawa and Vancouver get killed here. TBay takes all of EK’s salary, plus Ryan, and they give up 2019 first plus 2020 first plus Point plus Foote. We stay the hell clear of the entire mess. higgyfan
Ryan's $ and term would be an albatross for the Canucks. They already have LE for another 4 years, but at least his $ goes down after this year, so he might be useful for a team trying to reach cap minimum (is there any teams doing that anymore)? In the coming years, these two will block prospects ready to make the jump, as well as kill any trades or UFAs signings of good players.
Crabcakes
After a summer break, Dorion is apparently talking to teams again re Karlsson as of last week. I stumbled on part of and interview on 650 today. There was no new info otherwise. Just talk of the usual suspects: Tampa, Dallas and Vegas
kenhodgejr
I would love to get Foote but Tampa may want to dump Callahans salary to make Karlsson fit. Also we may have to trade Eriksson to make that work

Me_
The deal is void because of a spelling error in the name “Ottowa”.

I believe the development of Boeser, Pettersson and Hughes amongst many others will pan out at lightning speed and make cap space the best weapon available in the game. In five years’ time, the Canucks could easily have three to four, ten million dollar contracts on the team in a cap space of around 85 million dollars. Glug Datt
TB and Van politely decline.. OTT tries to hold back the giggles obviously Karlsson should be elite for a few more seasons, assuming injuries don't plague him. but OTT is a bit handcuffed with him - everyone knows he wants out.. he'll only want to get traded to a contender, but who can afford him & Ryan? hence bringing in Van, but we won't have cap space for too long.. that could really screw us for rentals or ufa's if we're in a position for a deep run in a few years time. and that's a hell of a price to pay for foote anyways.. what's the motivation? if van gets screwed with the Ryan contract, we might as well go all out for Karlsson too and Tampa can't lose all their top end youth, it's not like they're desperate for Karlsson.. they might just be a coaching adjustment away from a cup final
elvis15
Vancouver has to have a piece going the other way to be involved in a trade. That's an easy fix though. What's not so easy is you can't trade cap hit (i.e. 30% of Karlsson's contract). You can only retain cap on a contract you already hold.
