6string
Shocking. Stevie Y is always Detroit in my books though.

If Yzerman works out the last year of his deal in an advisory role, he could join Detroit for the last year of Holland's deal and then take over after that. Xbox
What in the actual heck. One of the top GM's in hockey stepped down while having one of, if not the best team. Weird.

bree2
he is not leaving the team, he will still have an advisory role!
Apple Juice
Maybe he wants to spend some time with family and have less travel in his life. Being a GM is quite stressful and time consuming so I assume he wants some time for his family more than anything.

Honeydew
Wow, he literally built TBL to what it is today, what on earth must be happening? Could he be wanting a scenery change? Or probably wants less of a role to spend more time with family?

stevie-Y
If Yzerman is stepping down for anything other than a job in Detroit, I will be absolutely shocked. He rose to legendary status with the Red Wings and he still lives there. He's not leaving the perennial contender he built in Tampa Bay to kickstart an expansion team or save the Canucks, come on. You can take Ken Holland if you want, however

If true...great news for Steve Yzerman and even better news for the Detroit Red Wings. Would be my #1 choice of anyone in hockey today to run my franchise. Will be curious to see the #'s...who's currently the highest paid coach/GM ? Babcock ? Nmind...guess Babcock @ 8m/yr Seems GMs aren't readily publicized...prob good idea. Apparently Holland taking over in Seattle ?
