Disagree

He's a legit middle six forward. His production is acceptable when he's actually put on a line that has some offensive capability and he plays a smart, defensive shutdown game when thrown into that pigeon hole like last year.

Let's look at Gaunce and Gagner as entirely underwhelming one dimentional plugs before throwing Granny under the bus.

Ice time minutes will be like water at an African sahara water hole in the summer.....

As the water dries up  ( minutes get tougher for players to get  )...... all the  various types of animals   ( players )  starting looking at each other a bit more nervously.....

Somebody this season.....  will get Eaten......

3-4 year guys need to step up so basically what willy 2.0 is saying is flakes like Gagner & DelZotto get to suck ass & are totally protected . No surprise I guess considering Gagner took over Boeser's spot on the pp last year , which totally made sense I guess . Hey hopefully they bring Megna back just in case Bo go's down

If you would've listened to the interview you would've heard Green call out all the veterans - only he did it in the appropriate way with respect.

Edit: @kingofsurreyGreen did call out LE.

Yes, because he didn't say something that the GM already did clearly he is all about protecting those guys.   He also didn't mention anything about Orcas so he clearly is against them.   He didn't much about global warming, the Middle East crises nor synthetic clothing so let's make assumptions about those things and say that he is exactly that position on those things too.

Why invent things to put into his mouth?    What is the point?

And we've got a good bunch of fat to trim.

Leipsic, Goldy, Gaunce all waiver elegible and haven't proven anything yet.

Gagner is a clown

Eriksson is overpaid

I'd take Granny over any of those guys except Mr. Overpaid, and it's a toss up between them. If Eriksson ever used his size I'd give him the nod, but Granny actually tries to play bigger than he is.

Granny's a very good trade candidate too, which more than I can say about those other guys.

Hutty and Pouliot have a lot to prove, Stecher too to some extent.

Leipsic 9 points in 14 games for us. The kid is an in your face hockey player to boot. I wouldn't group him with the others.

That's exactly what my wife told me as I was about to carve the roast beef tonight.

How depressed is everyone going to be when no rookies are on the opening night roster?

Not depressed at all. It’s not the year to worry about it.

next season will be a different story tho....next season will be the youth movement.

If Utica has a winning environment... may be the better option than losing 40  games with the Canucks

You're right. He played really well for 4 games, mediocre to invisible in the rest, but he did put up points.

So yes, you're right. But he is in that do or die age grouping.

EP is a little boy still.

Anyone remember McJesus getting hurt in his first year?

Anyone remember why Edmonton signed Lucic?

I have serious reservations about playing EP against Perry, Tkachuk, Kassian and whoever else.

Playing the long-game, not some ticket sales ploy that would see a young kid-star get hurt and become injury riddled from the daily cross checks to that skeleton-looking physique.

Save him for when it actually matters to this expansion team looking rebuild roster.

I share the same concerns. But EP doesnt have the WHL option JV had. I think it would be worse in the AHL. That league can be bush.

Load the Comets up with skill and let the emergining core learn how to win and how to do it nightly. Build that chemistry and breed a Champion down there.

Seriously, who won’t be watching Utica this year if Oli, EP and Dahlin are there, among others.

I’d rather that than waterdown both teams, in a sense, but would also like it if some Ohlund and Bure-like rookie seasons happened here too.

I’ve said that as well.

Utica could build a tough supporting roster to insulate their skill with. Could...

I just don’t want to see that kid get hurt. He’s the franchise.

I think there’s enough deterrents on the roster right now . Guddy, schaller, rousell, beagle. Virtanen will probably through his weight around more too with those boys backing him. Team needs to buy in though, you hurt or try to hurt one of ours we’ll run one of yours even harder mentality.

Those plugs likely won’t be out there with EP, but yes, agreed, and finally, right? Some actual toughness on the roster.

All that toughness won’t prevent contact with EP though.

EP is not Jonny Hockey small.

He’s JH-small stretched out most of another foot, so he is even more gangly and exposed. While he’s battling for the puck he’s vulnerable. Those are hockey plays that require no retaliation. We will find out soon enough if the 195lb 4th line scrapper is going to prevent Getz from leaning on EP.

Edit

I’d like to see a Lippy EP JV line.

Totally agree, bit of a Swiss army knife who can play up the roster if given a chance but can play middle 6 with no questions asked. playing middle 6 means left points but he can still play the role successfully

Baertschi-Horvat-Boeser

Leipsic-Sutter-Eriksson

Roussel-Gagner-Virtanen

Schaller-Beagle-Granlund

Goldobin

Edler-Stecher

Del Zotto-Tanev

Hutton-Gudbranson

Pouliot-Biega

i think gaudette and leipsic will battle against each other, honestly hope petterson and dahlen build chemistry in Utica.
