King Heffy
Important read. Props to Lehner for opening up and telling his story, which is more common than many of us would like to believe. Gained a lot more respect for Lamoriello as a person for taking a chance on him.

rekker
Well this explains his inconsistent play. Good on him for battling his deamons. I wish him luck and hopefully he can keep his career going. When he is on he is a very good goalie.
-AJ-
Very very happy to see guys like Lehner opening up about this. It's great to have others in the public eye being open about their struggles.

hlinkas wrister
Took some balls to come clean while still playing. I hope its an inspiration to others who feel they have to hide instead of healing.
Hairy Kneel
Awesome story of recovery and healing. Tough stuff but he seems to be in a better place with great support from the league.
Dr.BRR
Definitely took courage to come forward with this. Wishing him all the best. Hope he can put all the pieces back together and come out on top.
Nuxfanabroad
Dude flew off the rails a few times..all makes sense. Good luck RL. A shame it took so many decades for pros to come fwd like this..it was likely nudged along(big time) by this communicative, more forthcoming, internet era. Now I'd like to open up with you all about my net-ADDICTION!!!
6string
Old quote, "tough times don't last but tough people do". I'm sure both the league and PA have his back in getting his life on track.
Coconuts
Incredibly brave to come out with his story while maintaining an active NHL career. It's so important that he did. There are likely many NHL and ex-NHL players who struggle with addiction and mental illness and having people willing to speak about it is huge. There's still so much stigma related to mental health, I imagine it's far worse when it comes to sports and the amount of money associated with them. Good on him, I'll be rooting for him going forward.
Chronic.Canuck
I hope he has a killer season for the Isles and they give him the Masterson.
zombieksa
As a person diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and who has had issues with addiction, Robin Lehner has just become a bit of a hero of mine for speaking out on such a personal issue. I hope he has a great season!
JeremyCuddles
Always kinda liked Lehner and wondered why he could never put all his talent together and be a bonafide starter. Guess I know why. Best of luck to him. Hopefully he gets healthy more than anything. We lose too many hockey players too soon for various reasons. Westcoasting
Wow this hits home. I played one year of junior hockey in the early 80's and left with a 6 year long alcohol and drug addiction. I wasn't the only one on that team either.

All the credit in the world goes to you for making Juniors which meant you had talent to play at that level and more credit to your recovery. The real world is the best place on earth. burrardstreetbullies
i always wondered how he couldn't be more consistent prior too this. lots of respect on lou for giving him a chance when other teams just beat him up via meetings ect. and another note if you think robin lehner had alot of emotional content(snap shows) before just wait until this season. speaking from exp drinking everyday and mixing pills suppresses feelings and emotions quite heavily and the first year of sobriety is the worst as they all come up and now the person has to learn to deal with the feels and not kill anybody around them at the same time. battle lehner because iam in your corner brother
apollo
Man considering he was putting down a case of beer a day, I'm surprised he was still posting over 900 save percentage... Hope he can stay clean. The NHLPA does seem like they have a great support system. Couldn't help Ribeiro tho
