I am ashamed to say that back in the day, I would have kept it.

Now I am not hard up for money so I'd absolutely return it.

I would have too in my younger days. My Mom was doing it when I was a kid and I was like, "what are you doing?". I get why she was doing it now.::D

I should add that I figure maturity has a lot to do with it.  When you are old enough to understand how it would negatively affect someone else, and you've lived enough of your life to have that make a difference to you, opinions change.

I remember finding a bag of money at my feet on the school bus back at the day.  Mainly change, but had to be some $30 in there.  Yup... I kept it.

Roughly 25 years ago, when I worked at the mall, some dude left his wallet on our counter.  Not knowing who left it, I opened it to check ID.  There was $2,500 cash in there.  According to his ID he was a pilot for the UAE airlines.  Maybe the money was his per diem?  It was more money than the value of my car at the time.

Anyways when he came back I returned it without hesitation.  I guess could have pulled a "sorry sir, haven't seen it", but it never even crossed my mind at the time.

100% I'd return it, from any point in my life.  I've been lucky to have had my wallet returned to me 3 different times, completely intact.  One person actually contacted BCAA and had them contact me so she could find me and arrange to return the wallet.  Another person turned it in to the RCMP.  At the end of the day, it isn't my money that I found.  I don't know whether the person that lost it is rich, poor, a crook, I don't really care.

Each of us have to live with ourselves and who we see in the mirror every day.  We all have different values and standards, I try not to judge anyone else by my values, which is hard to follow.

Well said.

I also would return it.

Short cuts have never ever turned out for me in life. I try my best to live by that good old golden rule.

If this is the wallet you find. You return it, and thank God you're still alive.

If he finds you and starts in on this diatribe, you dead.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the
Inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will
shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness
for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious
Anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers
And you will know
My name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee"

Of course I would return it.  I was walking along the water out in James Bay months ago, and found a wallet with just cash and a receipt in it, no ID no credits cards, seeing who that may belong to.  The receipt was from a place far away, and the person paid in cash.  Unfortunately I was short on time, and gave it to the the staff at the restaurant near by hoping that person would think to stop there looking for their lost wallet and cash.  I looked around as well for body language, and couldn't find anyone with panic.  I didn't want to leave it in the spot I found it, having someone take it for their benefit.

I am not a taker.  I don't take anything tbat doesn't belong to me, and I look out for others.

Kid did right thing but why isn't anyone asking why someone had $10,000 in a purse?    There are only a few kinds of people that have that kind of cash with them.

Maybe it is from having just downloaded and binge watching Ozark on recent flights but kid may be doubly lucky for turning this in.

That's probably regular pocket change to a good number of Santa Barbara residents.

Only gave $100 to the kid.Should have given him at least $500. He could have easily kept the 10k. At least make him really feel the love of doing something 1/10 people would probably do these days.

What world are we living in where someone is obligated to give a reward, they are not. Then giving someone a hundred bucks is not good enough ? I don't get it.

Could have taken out of bank for a purchase. Could have collected etc not really crazy to think 10g is sitting in a purse, but since it was and was returned its nice to see people do the right thing in those situations.
