Rolling Stones 2018

How much money do they need? I'm sure ticket prices will be outrageous anywhere they play. Maybe it's time they start giving back to the fans. Do a global tour of great bars, charge $100 a ticket (only way to go is to qualify for ticket draws by answering Stones trivia). Beef up security at these shows. They would be very exclusive, and really, a bar would be the best place to see this band. A little "Honky Tonk Women" with 500 other Stones fans sounds like a good party.

But if it's about the money, then they'll play stadiums and charge the average Joe an outrageous amount. And the sound will be terrible.

They were never that great live to begin with....glorified garage band but damn they have been downright awful for 20+ years at this point.

It's not about the money at this point...it has to be about the rush you get from the shows.  It is probably what is keeping them alive....

Absolutely. Once a performer always a performer. They crave the limelight. Thousand of fans cheering for you when you are a grandpa is probably the best feeling only outmatched by the handfuls of Viagra they are downing after the show.

I used to play in a few bands and played a few dozen gigs at small punk shows. Most was prob 200 people....and that was still a massive rush....

Agree with this....They cannot retire and reminisce about the 60's and 70's..I just think that that they should do select gigs,as those giant stages are just magnetizing their age and lack of mobility (Jagger is still doing a great job though).

Even though the Manchester gig was sold out,the crowd seemed pretty dead to me IMO....Clearly,theres still a demand to see them live,so what do I know.

top 2 or 3 best rock bands of all time, for my money. maybe even #1. pretty sure that'd be a much more widely shared consensus if only they called it quits sooner.

their output from 1966-1972 is unbelievably stellar:

aftermath (1966)

between the buttons (1967)

their satanic majesty's request (1967)

beggars banquet (1968)

let it bleed (1969)

sticky fingers (1971)

exile on mainstreet (1972)

oof. tough to beat

I couldn't even play 'Satisfaction' on guitar without shooting myself due to sheer boredom, how the hell do they play that song 1000's of times and not have the same feeling?  I remember Silverchair saying they didn't want to play 'Tomorrow' anymore and that was after only a couple of years of touring lol.

Totally agree. I have 47 Stones songs on my iPod. "Satisfaction" is not one of them.

I love these guys..saw them in 82 (Seattle),and 94 (BC Place..great show)...just saw this and I'm thinking they should consider not doing these massive outdoor shows anymore..not really doing themselves any favours..thoughts?
