[Report] Oilers Give Kassian Permission To Seek Trade

I know that it's difficult to comprehend but I think there are several present Canucks who enjoy country music.  Sutter for one.  I think there a few who go both ways as well.  What I mean is they like both Country and Rock :o  And then there's the rappers.  Good Lord, the room must be so divided.

The Hockey Guy has a piece on Kassian.  He said that he believes the Canucks are in no way interested.

Bo actually likes country too.. Gagner, Sutter and Bo were singled out as bumkins in that "episode".

I was a little dismayed, but I guess everybody is allowed to have their own $&!#ty taste in music.

As Heff pointed out early in the thread, I doubt JB would take Kassian back even if he had a spot for him. It's far too awkward on a few levels.

As far as it goes, I think Kassian would be best served by bolting to Europe or the KHL for a few years and making a (good) name for himself. Maybe a team would take a chance on him if he puts up good numbers and plays the right way off the ice.

He has the potential to be the perfect winger for Pettersson. Kass can pass, finish, lay the body, fight - he could be perfect. But unfortunately we have been there and done that. I was a supporter of him while he was here but he is far too inconsistent now. He can't make it on Edmonton; what does that say?

Kind of a shame how he turned out. I had HUGE hopes for him when he first got to Vancouver. He has all the tools. Size with excellent skating ability, skill, toughness just not able to put it together. I feel his greatest issue was and still is between the ears.

this year and next at just under 2m. maybe a team takes a chance if they can send back someone they dont want to offset the salary difference.

Good guy to have for depth for a playoff team, can add some grit...think thats how he scored his current contract with the Coil

GM JB will never bring him back

If its Gagner for Kass as someone proposed sure. I wouldn't put up a fight. I have nothing against the guy. Only thing for me with Kass was he just seemed like a big hairy Elmer Fudd. Credit though he skates decent for a big fella and has soft hands around the net and makes some nice heads up passes. Plays higher a IQ game than Virtanen. Not knocking Virtanen either would be good to have them both in our top 6 during the playoffs.

I don't see JB  having any interest at all though after paying to get rid of him.

Maybe he should just zip his mouth, put his head down, and give 110% effort into every practice and every single shift.  He may be lucky to carve a long career a la Steve Bernier.

A new team isn't going to change what's between his ears.  Buffalo was willing to give him up, Vancouver did all it could, he blew up the opportunity given by the Canadiens, and with a younger team in Edmonton he wishes to seek other teams for yet another chance?

Some players just aren't meant to be hockey professionals.  I know he was the rebound partner for a lot of CDCers (after parting with CoHo) and with his struggles and backstory, many want him to do his best... but it appears that he just isn't cut out for the NHL.

It's hard to believe that just 18 months ago, Oiler fans were chanting his name, and raving about what an asset he was in the playoffs.

But like every other time he seemed to "arrive", he simply faded back into lazy, listless play. And he was never a fast player - it seems the game is passing him by, more so than ever.

I really thought Zach had arrived during that Oiler playoff run. Oilers are hardly a model NHL organization so I don't put much credence in their opinions. I do think someone will give him another shot. Not the Canucks who have moved on. If Pitt could make Phil Kessel work then why not Zach?B)
