Dazzle
Icings happen. It is inevitable, sometimes, due to pressure. But the amount of icings that we have is starting to be a concern. http://morehockeystats.com/teams/icings According to this site, 7 of those led to a goal. 4 of them led to a penalty. 22 led to another icing. 148 led to nothing. I think it's important that there were 148 times that nothing happened. Furthermore, the best team on this site with regards to icing is... The Los Angeles Kings. So, we can't simply say that this factor of the game is representative of how good a team is. However, we are below 50 percent when it comes to draws in the defending zone. Also, Markus Granlund specifically is doing fine statistically as a 3rd line player, but he obviously sucks at faceoffs. It's no secret that no one outside of Horvat can win faceoffs in a reliable way. The team should just practice learning to curl because there's been too many times when there's an unnecessary icing. As an aside, Archibald needs to get taken off the roster for Gaunce.
Jam126
How about we first learn how not to turn over the puck right in the slot.

MDZ is bad, Pouliot is bad, Hutton is 5/6 d-man at best, Guddy a 5/6 at best, Stecher a 5/6 at best. Tanev is a 4/5 at best. All our eggs are in the Juolevi, Woo, Hughes baskets, 2 of em have to pan out or we gotta hope for some FA luck ala Hamhuis. Maybe Tryamkin comes back at least slightly better than when he left. xereau
Its a sign that the D are desperate in getting rid of the puck and uneasy carrying it up ice. They treat it like a freaking hand grenade if there is any pressure at all. It is on the whole team to get the puck up the ice, all things being equal. The forwards and support D need to get to open ice and make it way easier on the puck carrier. My favorite defensive play in all of hockey, if in doubt, just bank it off the boards. Or if you can't just flip it high into the oppositions blue line area. You'd be amazed at the crazy bounces you get. The air time gains you position down ice. And the surprise bounces can spring your team loose as the other team flounders.

Teams that are tired due to having key injuries (two of three top face-off players to start) and a brutal schedule - plus a lot of players who are in roles they are new too - they ice the puck. /story. Tanev is definitely not a 4-5 guy. He’s a solid top 2 guy on 2/3’s of teams in the league and a fantastic 3 on any team in the league. We are fortunate to have him even with his durability issues. Tanev is a top pairing guy on most teams. Hutton's play this year would probably be a number 3 on most teams, and he's still got potential. I think he has the biggest future on the d-core with the club outside of anyone named Hughes and maybe Juolevi.

RogersTowell
Pouliot is the only D right now who doesn't look like he's ready for prime time. MDZ came back from his stint in the press box a more engaged and focused player. Stecher is currently playing like a middle pairing guy. His compete level is off the charts and he gets stronger every year. He's getting some points on the board this season and he wins a surprising number of battles along the boards. Gudbranson is starting to look more like the guy we hoped he'd be, but still a ways to go.
vannuck59
Pouliot is fine and still developing time will tell on his progress . Until we have a D better, play him lots he will get it or be trade fodder or AHL bound.

250Integra
Gudbranson is the king of icing the puck. All he does is flip it out of the defensive zone.
