Like the old Flyers regime; he liked to throw money around. Example signing Suter and Parise.

 

That aside? He was probably better than average at drafting and running a team. But not spectacular. Got let go because, unlike Gillis, was too conservative for his owners. Never got his team over the hump with any final moves. And when he tried, he failed. What was it, 9 first round exits in 11 years or similar?

I think the idea behind it is that he will make some bold moves, which the fylers need if they are ever gonna win something with this core. 1-2 big moves and this roster can be a serious contender.
