The goon jumping off the Calgary bench and then attacking Dumba should be suspended at least 20 games. The league cannot tolerate players coming off the bench and attacking guys who are stars. What's stopping some goon from hopping off the bench (in a legal way) and attacking Calgary's gnome? This could become like the 70's Flyers if allowed to continue. I almost always love it when a player puts himself in any sort of risk to stick up for a team mate

If the NHL wants to be truthful about protecting the head this kind of hit needs to disappear. I don't disagree with the desire to get headshots out of the game but this discussion is whether using the NHL's criteria, that was a suspendable hit. As has been confirmed, it does not meet their criteria as it now stands.
canuck2288
Good on everyone show some bloody spirit and passion i don’t mind the hit or the response. Calgary stuck up for their guy, shocker to see for us Canucks fans but that’s what teams that stick together do.
Industrious1
Lomberg deserved the suspension....however, I kind of wish some of our players had that sort of fire whenever liberties are taken with our stars. Man do I miss Dorsett. He could play and was a heart and soul guy that always stuck up for his crew.

Routine open ice hit on a player with their head down. 10 years ago no one bats an eye. Lomberg is sticking up for his team mate yes, but do it the right way. It would have been understandable if it was a dirty hit, but don't jump a guy after a perfectly clean hit. I disagree. Jump him whenever the heck you want. This is called a response. Kudos to the flames because lomberg, Bennett, and hamonic have already done this once each......these tapes should be shown to the Canucks everyday. and now the phlegms are first in the west. ill wait while someone tells me fighting is not part of “the new nhl” or we’ll get them in January or beat them on the scoreboard blah blah blah..... LOL I'm probably the last person you should bring this up with. I'm an advocate of keeping as much toughness and fighting and super disappointed in the direction the No Hit League is going. You misread or misunderstood my post.

McBackup
Sticking up for your team is one thing, suckerpunching a guy on the ice in the back of the head is another. Absolutely shameful and he’s lucky there was no damage done.
