Send Gaudette down and if you can make a deal for Sutter you do it. I like Sutter but Gaudette can hang with NHLers. And maybe you get a decent draft pick in return as Sutter is a strong 3rd liner even with his salary. Baertschi and Bo need to be reunited so I'd consider trading Goldobin for a decent return since he's shown some promise here and there. I just don't see Goldy as a long term fit here and Baer still has years on his contract. I agree, this is the best year to trade Sutter. I think you would see a lot of teams interested in him for a playoff run.

krutovsdonut
good problem to have i think sutter will send gaudette down. which is a shame given how far gaudette has come. i think baertschi will send biega down. it should be mdz who goes but i don't think that happens or even schaller unless they move gagner due to the size of the contract. pouliot has played just well enough for now. i also think they are not going to risk losing schaller, granlund or motte on waivers until they know baertschi is truly back and playing well. baertschi's actually in tough to find a role right now. virtanen has looked decent and so has goldy. and if they trade someone, it might well be baertschi. Reading his quote the other day it sounds like Green is looking forward to get Baertschi back - says they want him back as soon as he can and that as coach it's never quick enough but that his health has to come 1st. Schaller hasn't been playing much lately already being a scratch. That leaves Granlund or Motte that I could see sitting some games respectively. Maybe Goldobin or Leivo sit for a game. And just rotate forwards like that. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Canucks injuries this year... I think baertschi starts on 3rd line and possibly work his way back up the roster. It seems Leivo has formed some chemistry with Petey and Brock. Sutter takes the 3C spot as Beagle moves to 4C and Gaudette gets sent down. Goldobin - Horvat - Virtanen Leivo - Pettersson - Boeser Baertschi - Sutter - Eriksson Roussel - Beagle - Motte Granlund - Schaller That looks like pretty legit logic. I imagine someone else will be injured soon enough. There is almost ALWAYs someone injured enough they could use a break if its available... Back in the day, no one was better at milking it than Detroit. How long was Salo out in 2011? Almost exactly enough that, with Malhotra hurt, he could jump into the line up. He was suddenly ready just when we needed him by memory?

EddieVedder
So we go on a 5 game streak and all of a sudden 2 maybe 3 of our top 6 guys are expendable for 'mid level returns'? Guadette has been filling in, and is a hard worker but he isnt ready to take over for Sutter. I want to see him go down to the AHL and work on his battle level down low and along the wall because he rarely ever makes it out with pucks. Offensively Sutter makes way more of an impact than Gaudette at this point. Baertschi is probably the one player on the team that is most in sync with Horvat. Goldobin is 22 and is showing improvement by the week- hes also proving to be a solid power play guy. do we really think Benning is going to give up on him? We need 3 scoring lines to compete in todays leave. If you dont have it you're not going anywhere. Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen Eriksson-Petterson-Boeser Goldobin-Sutter-Granlund Leivo-Beagle-Roussel Motte Schaller has been the most useless, least impactful player I've seen on this club in years. He actually plays like hes pissed off to be playing in Vancouver and wants to be traded. He needs to go.
smokes
Guadette goes down and gets some meaningful minutes while Sutter takes over the shutdown line leaving Petey and Brock as first line and Baer and Bo headlines the second.I wouldn't mind seeing what Baer-Bo-Goldy can do together. So I guess bye bye Schaller as well.
PrinceGeorgeGoon
While the Canucks are not on team tank and trying to win hockey games I can't imagine Benning trading a "foundational player" in Sutter. He is a shutdown penalty kill two way monster who makes guys better around him. Would I trade him? What the heck do I know? Have to at least have a look at always getting better right? That said G.Ms scour the league for guys they believe in. You may never get enough back. I think Sutter is the best Leader/Room guy of the "older" players. Watch his mic'd up footage. Gaudette gets time in Utica, goldy sits.

Pickly
Sutter is extremely valuable to this team but if you can get a reasonable haul for him near the deadline I think you’d have to look into it if you were Benning. He’s exactly the kind of player you would like in the playoffs. With him nearing 30, the Canucks still a couple years away from contending, and a couple bad injuries in the last few seasons it’s not unthinkable to trade him. Tyndall2
I agree that Gaudette needs to play to improve. He has been doing well defensively and is in the right position in the offensive end of the ice. Just hasn't had any puck luck. Is Del Zotto eligible to be sent to Utica or does he have to be waived? Schaller has been a bit of a bust so far. I would continue to sit him and like most here have said rotate the weakest link every couple of games until someone breaks out. HockeyHarry
Gaudette is Utica bound there’s no other choice, plus he’ll get ton of ice time down there. It’s all good.
TheCerebral1
Sutter and Eriksson. The only way Sutter will stay healthy is being glued to the bench.
Drakrami
Instead of sending Gaudette down I'd just waive Schaller. Gaudette's part of the future, would rather he develop by the Virtanen/Horvat route by playing 8-10 minutes then go back to Utica, he is 22 already. I believe that Pouliot is who they would like to send down, but is the most likely to be claimed. Decisions, decisions ! I disagree about Pouliot, of the 3, he’s been pretty solid as of late. You horde it. The Canucks are not in a position to trade roster players. We need depth. having a centre core of Petersson Horvat Sutter Beagle looks like a healthy 1234. We do not have a surplus of centres. We have 4 real centres.
DrJockitch
Gaudette has been good and getting better. Great rookie year so far. Utica is getting better. Demko is back and playing well. May serve him well to play in Utica some more and in AHL playoffs. I really would like to see him stay though.
