[Report] No hearing for Danick Martel (TB)

I’m honestly disgusted. Putting all Canucks bias aside the league throws out so much smoke about player safety and getting headshots out of the game. Then a  player comes along and makes a textbook, predatory hit to the head, the exact kind they’ve made it perfectly clear over and over is unacceptable, and gets congratulated by his coach. What a &^@#ing joke.

Anyone have an email address or a phone number for the DOPS? Because this is a bit ridiculous. The league has just settled a concussion lawsuit, they've been preaching about player safety with respect to head injuries, and yet have done nothing about the three suspecting hits to Canucks players (Hykas on Baertschi, Reaves on Edler, and Martel on Stecher). I'm sure there have been questionable hits delivered to players on other teams that have been overlooked by the league as well. Come on!!!

Stecher is having a hearing for head butting Martel’s shoulder. They just don’t have the personnel to stop other teams from taking liberties with them. They got pushed around last night by the smallest team in the league. Maybe it’s time for Benning to try and draft some toughness instead of a bunch of dwarves. Last years drafted players for the Canucks average height was 5’10, average weight 167. That’s not going to deter teams from taking cheap shots. Even players like Gudbranson and Tryamkin are big but they aren’t mean. The league has shown they don’t give a rats ass about the Canucks. So they better get some toughness before one of their young stars gets seriously hurt from a cheap hit

The Canucks shouldn't avoid drafting BPA simply because of fear that teams will take runs at our guys. The league is suppose to take care of that (which they don't seem to be trying to). With that said, remember when we drafted Virtanen (a guy with size) and the uproar that caused? Seems like it's damned if you do and damned if you don't for Benning.

Oh btw, Benning signed Beagle, Roussel and Schaller this season for their presence and was criticized for not allowing more space for prospects. Benning traded for Gudbranson (not mean? did you not see his uppercut on Martel?) and was criticized as well.

I get the anger in the situation, but having enforcers won't prevent these plugs from taking liberties and hiding behind the refs. We can send a guy out afterwards to attack them, but all we will get is a reputation of doing so and the enforcer will be suspended making it open season again or we end up giving up a bunch of PPs and get embarrassed on the scoreboard on top of everything. The instigator rule has eliminated the effectiveness of enforcers and has given life to the little rats of the league.

As long as the player getting hurt doesn't affect an owner's bottom line it seems to okay. It's pretty sad. I'm starting to think what Daniel Carcillo said might have some merit.

Honestly not surprised at all. The most annoying part of the whole series of events wasn’t the lack of a 5 minute major or even the lack of a suspension, it was the ref trying to protect Martel from getting his face punched in. The same refs who created a problem with their soft penalty call them tried to prevent the players from taking care of business.

The NHL and their Department of Player Safety is a joke. To hell with George Parros.

Good on Dhaliwal for calling it like it is.

I hope Gudbranson destroys Martel with a bonebreaking hit the next time the two teams meet.

Meh.....I hope someone ends Doucherov's career.  Maybe then something will happen when it's the league's darlings...

You want to get rid of head-contact?

Suspend the player until the injured player returns.

Unpaid.

Then maybe douche bags like Martel and Matheson will think twice before attacking a player so aggressively.

Why is it that Stecher suffers but Martel walks away?

WAKE UP NHL.

Honestly, I try to defend the DOPS more than most fans, but this is utter bullcrap. Stecher could be out for months. That's two of our players done in by headshots for which their hitters haven't been suspended. Trash analysis.
