If you paid attention to the Tampa PK, they are lightning quick in closing gaps. They were pressuring our guys and stopped our opportunities. They are like 90% on their PK recently for a reason. Maybe give some credit to them rather than blaming the guy that has actually been generating most of PP points lately. I think the PP has actually looked much better since his return, but he's not your typical PP QB and we don't have one.

luckylager
I don't think Hutty is a better option, Pouliot definitely isn't. Edler's the best we got, so we just have to deal with it for now. Maybe we get to see Hughes there at the end of the season.
kilgore
Edler seems nervous, or cautious maybe is a better word, on the PP. It makes me nervous watching him. He is so stiff and tentative with the puck. It causes him to hesitate almost before every pass or shot. Gives the opposition that extra half second to adjust. Hence the reason for all the shin shots. His back pass going up the ice is nail bitingly predictable, because he telegraphs all his passes. I'm surprised his drop pass has not been sabotaged more. He is slowing down, and I don't mean skating. Its his decision making, his ice awareness. That said, our cupboards are bare, and its true, he is still one of our better D, and has size, and I don't think there's anyone else we could use that would be much better. Its just frustrating to watch and realize how much further our D needs to be rebuilt.

He constantly makes terrible decisions shooting into the oppositions shins and has blinders on, never passes to ep or brock when they are ready to tee it up . Especially EP I can remeber so many times even yesterday petey is wide open in his wheelhouse but this guy can’t spot him if his life depended on it. Hutton belongs on the top unit atleast he knew what to do and that was to just set up Brock and petey , no coincidence we haven’t seen Ep unleash his one timer since edler has been back on the unit. Edler should be dropped to the second unit since it is garbage anyways and put hutton back on the top one. If Green thought Hutton could run the PP he would be there. Be patient. Hughes will run the PP someday soon! Or are you a proponent of trading for a better vet D right now? And I bet were a proponent of skulling Hutton last year... CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Considering we got a sample of Derrick Pouliot...I vowed myself to not complain about Edler on the PP again. Still would like TG to give Stecher and Hutton some leash to run the PP.

EP Phone Home
Sadly this issue won’t be resolved until Q Hughes comes in close to the end of the year or when/if at all Edler gets traded. Unfortunately coaches go with the devil that they know and unsteady Eddy will continue to run...ruin the point on the PP. I was screaming last night at the game how many times we waited for a player to shoot the puck on the 5V3 and it goes to Edler...shot wide. This happened 2-3 times. Don’t get me wrong, Eddy being what he is as a third rounder is great and all. But sometimes you gotta take ole Yeller out back and end what doesn’t work for you. Zoolander
Its sad but Edler is the best option we have. Wait for free agency 2019 and QH43 to arrive and then we'll reassess the situation...

All of the succesful powerplays have threats in all three lanes of the ice, Why isn't Hutton a threat on the PP? His shots get through, he holds the blueline much more consistently, actually walks the line to open up passes if he doesn't see one, and his passes are spot on . Everybody's hung up on eddy being the only 1st PP option for so long they all believe it. What a great way to drop some of these huge mins he plays which is also believed to be his kryptonite . I like Eddy he does great things but has a lot of ooops moments . Ices the puck a lot on outlet passes and takes a lot of penalties clutching and grabbing, has the SLOWEST drop pass on the PP, the puck almost stops before the intended player makes contact. We will see the Eddy we all want if we give others the chance to prove it doesn't all have to be on him. Edler in my opinion is not our #1 d man in any part of the game. Too slow, bonehead plays, give aways, inaccurate passes, etc, etc, etc. When he is out there everyone just holds their breath, just hoping that he doesn't cough up the puck (again). And yet ...... yesterday (in his own end) 2 or 3 times I saw him receive a cross ice pass from Tanev, hold on to it patiently while 2 Tampa forecheckers were barrelling down on him, then place a beautiful pass onto Motte's, or Horvat's stick for the breakout and, yes, get flattened against the boards. He is still one of the best passers on the team, especially under pressure.

Silky mitts
Some of you are missing the point it’s not whether edler is a good player or not.. it’s about the powerplay and his execution on it.

Sure if you remeber the game day threads just full of people ranting to pass the pack instead of his patented in the shins slapper.
