Timrå goalie Niklas Svedberg, a top goalie in the League got a knee to his head last night, Frölunda player got 5+GM, and is now to be interviewed by the Swedish DoPS, how would you as fans react if this happened to your goalie? Would there be any reactions from the DoPS if this happened in the NHL?

There is a big discussion in a Swedish hockey Facebook group where they say nothing would have happened in the NHL from this, how Svedberg is overplaying and such.

This happened with 30s left of the second period, Svedberg cleared the concussion quiet room test and returned to play in The third period

I would have to agree that this would not receive much if any discipline in the NHL. The player clearly wasn't trying to make contact with the goalie, it was simply a result of the goalie's reaction to the shot and the defenseman coming back and forcing the player into a path that would result in contact with the goalie. At most in the NHL the player would get 1 game, but with the lack of injury even that is doubtful

Here the DoPS ruling would be very dependent on the team the goalie was playing for, and who the jumping fool was. It could be anything from 0 to 3 games.

Same in Sweden, but the range is 3-7 games instead! This one was 5 games +$2000 about a month ago

And this one 6 games +$1500

There was zero intent and was an accident. Yes it was a bit of a reckless play jumping through the crease like that, but I believe the 5 and a game should have been more than enough (honestly, I would have felt a 2 minute goalie interference was enough). Not to mention no injury was actually suffered.

Tim Soderlund (the guy that kneed the goalie) is a Chicago prospect, and he was used with our original draft pick.

Anyway, that did not seem predatory, unless there was bad blood between the teams during the game why would it be.

IMO this should be maybe a 1 or 2 game suspension at most.

There was some situation in the game that heated it up (not as bad as Canucks - Lightning, but anyway)

Firat period a Timrå got a 5+GM for a cross check and there was some minor scrums between faceoffs

The cross check is at the start of these Highlights
