Oilers broadcast was awful. I was stuck with them, too. They were praising McDaid even when he didn't touch the puck, and there was bias in every movement the Oilers made. It made me very angry.

The Oilers need to be criticized for being terrible.  They are wasting McDavid by not building properly around him.

You’re preaching to the choir here. All of the usual suspects are in gramma’s basement patiently waiting for a few losses. Fedor’s in the Ukraine, or some other god forsaken place still.

Well, he lives in Edmonton.. Good for him to be out of there for a while, even if its Ukraine..

Or maybe Green has something to line match with????

I see WD is 4 straight wins now in LA.

I'll give you that Alf... I was behind WD as well, and think in general comparing WD and Green is like comparing apples and oranges... Hell of a difference in squads...

With regards to LA I think they been cheating the fans...just like Chicago...

Has Edmonton found anybody past the 1st round?!

Half of their team are placeholders and long shots. Brutal.

They need to trade some of their high end guys for some meat and potatoes players. Pullijarvi should be traded to St. Louis for Bozak and Bouwmeester.

LOL trade a former 3rd overall for at best a 3rd line centre and a slow defenceman whose best days are farrr behind him? I mean, I know Chiarelli is prone to making absolute head scratcher trades like that, but c'mon.

His point was he doesn't need to be waived, he goes down without risk.

A two way contract only applies to how much money a player makes in the minors.

Cheers...

That was my point too... he doesn't need to be waived, hence he is likely to go down... With a call up again if there is an injury.

He needs to play... will be disappointed if he is sat in the press box...

The fact we now have players so decent we can't decide who to send down, speaks volume....

Don't criticise...rejoice... hallelujah...

If they build their squad up properly around McD, they could dominate the league for years... Hopefully they will sit and watch us go, and wonder what could have been :)

He'll be the #1 cman in Utica, that will do him, and the Comets, a world of good.

I like Sutter alot as  well as Eriksson but I hope that line never becomes a thing again.  Id much  rather see quicker guys like Motte, Roussel and to a lesser extent Virtanen on his wing.

Also Id consider Leivo in the line up over Granlund, but he's better suited with offensive players.

Leivo Horvat Virtanen

Goldy Petersson Boeser

Baertschi Beagle Eriksson

Motte Sutter Roussel

granny

Thats a sick C depth... This team is getting better by the day...

And Gaudette ready in case of injury.. JB, I freaking love you...

Point is they need more than what they have. They’ve done a few deals attempting to trade pedigree that have not worked out. Now it’s time for proven quantity to alleviate McDavid and Draisatls workload. Pullijarvi is expendable yet will fetch a good haul from a team looking to fill in a top line with potential.

No team needs 10 top 5 picks to be competive.

Biega is actually an awesome 8th D man. Even though he is small the guy is not scared of *&&^ and he plays his heart out every game. He made no mistakes tonight. I love Beiga and hope no one claims him when we have to send him down again.

This type of player is the reason you give a contract that is too rich for what he does. So you don't lose him through waivers imo.

Loved it when he won a board battle with Kassian in the corner and calmly passed it up and out of the zone.

I agree, there's nothing wrong trading him for depth, but your suggestion of Bozak and Bouwmeester was mind boggling as they could totally fetch more than those two for him.

Couldn't agree more, love that guy, so easy to root for and a good person off the ice. The Oilers had a few guys out last night, and it looks like you just have to have 8, not 6, decent D men.  Biega is always good with a little rest he just puts it all out there when he plays and punches above his weight.  After a few games though, he wears down and starts thinking he is Karlsson and that is when trouble starts.  But you are going nowhere in this league without guys like him who can step in unless you are very very lucky with injuries.  And I think he is only making 850k isn't he?  That is hardly too rich for what he does.  This is his last year of a 2 year deal i thought.

No call on the play either, which likely would have meant Guddy or anyone could have come in and got a free shot (becuase then the refs would have most likely called coincidental minors), and the harder shot the better.   Even McDavid was using his stick against him, no push back from our team against their stars, unless you feel Rousell started it with McDavid but he barely touched him (maybe he was mouthing him off and he reacted?).  Sigh I like the wins, Markstrom and Motte were the biggest difference makers in the game to me, yes Pettersson scored (and a sick assist) so him too.

But it was obvious that for most of the game EDM was pushing harder, driving harder and getting the best chances to score.  McDavid could have easily had four or even five points against “old” Markstrom.

I may be in the minority here, but half a day later, I'm actually happy that EP is taking these cheap shots in his stride, without the whole team have to drop them for the slightest infringement... there will not be less in the coming years, and come play offs he will be hacked, slashed and crosschecked constantly, he'll have to learn to deal with it. I wouldn't mind if someone took offence and dealt with it, and of course there comes a time, when the record needs to sat straight, but didn't think that cross check warranted that...

And compared to McD the boy's got balls of steel... He doesn't whine constantly, and I love that...

PS... this is actually quite the admission on my behalf, as I'm aways baying for blood :)

Still have a soft spot for Zach and love the way Hitch is using him more. Planting his big body infront of the net should help the Oilers.

Is it ust me or is Pouliot having fewer brain cramps? Not saying it still doesn't happen. The potential upside with Pouliot is his offence. He shots off the point are usually dangerous. Both Beiga and Pouliot play stronger games with a stronger FO center. Better puck possession.

As Van fans we take so much for granted with Edler being a marquee example. He is still playing top pairing defense and is a hardcore physical presence back in the Van d-zone. One can only wonder how high he could have climbed with a better overall defensive group to play with and a few less injuries. As mentioned by a number on here I would love his being traded at the TDL with a guarantee of resigning him as a UFA. As excited as fans are getting Vancouver is not a serious CUP contender and Edler would bring back some quality pieces.

I watch all the LA games since WD took over and I would say with the help of Quick, the main difference is he has tightened them up at the back. Pity they have started so far down as I think that team would have had a chance at the playoffs with WD in charge from the outset.

I'm happy for the old guy that he got another go because he got a rough deal here and paid for TL and JB's inexperience. He is a guy who imo has given a lot to the game, sometimes to the detriment of his family and it is good to see him get a chance with a decent roster.

You’d be right to believe that but it is Chiarelli we’re talking about and Puljujarvi has looked extremely underwhelming for a guy who was touted to be just below Laine in the lead up to their draft.

Not much commentary on Edmonton’s Russian goalie being ventilated for 4 goals on 6 shots.

He hasn’t been very good lately. I took 10 minutes to read the (whopping) 5 pages on the Soilers message board. Some commentary about his vulnerabilities becoming common knowledge around the league. Some are yearning for the Talbot of old to re- emerge (lol).

Fun times in Edmonton.

Sorry but there is no getting use to a broken wrist or cracked ankle. You can be as tough as you try to be but injuries are a physical fact not a state of mind. Players know that. Do players hang back from going into corners with Guddy and Edler because they are not mentally capable? NHL players have seen it all by the time they reach the NHL. They often avoid going into those corners because of the real threat of being injured. Regular season games might not warrant that risk. IMO that is why CUP play is a totally different season. The plays are all more important and players more willing to take the risk to have success.

Why do NHL players love the enforcers? Every time they engage in a fight they run the danger of permanent physical damage. Broken faces or concussion. I am actually surprised that a hockey player has not been killed in a fight. Soldiers are taught how to kill with one blow to the face.

Dahlen.

i saw him play last night and he got stapled to the bench in the 3rd in a 0-0 game.  Cant understand why he isn't getting more ice time.  However, Macewen is playing on the first line and is an absolute terror out there on the forecheck.  He is going to be in the bigs eventually.  Hopefully with the Canucks.
