[Proposal] Canucks/Capitals

Recommended Posts

To Washington: Goldobin, Tryamkin rights

To Vancouver: Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, 2019 4th round pick

Axel played well in world jrs. last year. He is a hard working LW with offensive potential. Might find some chemistry with Pettersson.

if you are going to propose a trade

please research first

goldobin has a contract cap hit of $863,000

axel is not on caps roster and has a cap hit of 0

caps have slightly less then $14,000 in available cap space

so as a first step, explain how the caps fit goldobin under the cap so he can be added to their roster

He is a hard working LW yes. But AJF's scouting report is that of a defensive forward. Not what I would project to play with one of the hottest offensive players on the planet.

Further, Tryamkin has played, and belongs in the NHL. That's not necessarily the case with Fjallby. He's kind of having an off year. Definitely not worth Tryamkin and Goldobin.

Sorry.

Actually Coastal...….

If the Caps did trade for Goldobin under the argument that you just used, they would have to sent someone down anyways, so for them, they have plenty of room for an upgrade, if they thought it was worth that......

The poster did not say how it was going to be financed anyways......

I don't get your extremely rude behavior :picard:

Coastal can be a bit bristley. He's not wrong though. I made a Goldobin proposal earlier

and the first team I looked at was the Caps. The non starter was they don't have room and they don't have anyone who would clear waivers. If they make a trade it will involve a roster player they simply have a very good team. They couldn't afford to over pay for Goldy and loose a player to waivers as well. Any move they make will have moving parts.

If there is a bigger deal to be made with the Caps I'm very interested. I'm sure they would love to add Goldy. There are parts here that are interesting but it gets real murky who adds what to make it happen and is it worth it for both sides?

I'd be more into:

Brandon Sutter (1.375 retained) and Ben Hutton for Andre Burakovsk, Madison Bowey and Devante Smith-Pelly

Washington is rumored to be looking for veteran depth scoring.  Sutter provides just that and a face-off specialist. Ben Hutton gives them a bit more offense from the blue-line than Bowey does. Taking Smith-Pelly keeps them cap compliant. Not much more to say here. Let him go at the end of the season.

For me, this deal gives us more youth to work with. Both came with high expectations. While Burokovsky looks to have taken a step back, Bowey is still looking for his first step forward. Both could become projects and categorized as chances, but the youth of our team allows them time to find their games. The talent we are gathering will give them ample opportunity to find a home and I believe they will.
