littledreamer
I kind of get DC's point, that Petey pushed back when pressured, and he's been doing a lot of that lately- I like the fire. This was just bad luck.

Pin Getzlaf in the corner, when he muscles his way to the net against most anyone else. Push Tkachuk from in front of the net, and a scrum never gets started. Think to myself there are good parts to his game. One's other players could not provide. And I take with a grain of salt when he tries to chip a pass past a defender on the boards when he himself is being checked. It doesn't get through, when Tanev gets to a similar puck faster and has it cleared. That he does not seem to have the instinct to hit the guy at the right time with passes in the offensive zone like Stecher, or Edler. And understand he has limitations. You? You feel your smarter than everyone, and crucify him for it. Or at least self entitled to be the one to profess Gudbrandson as the worst hockey player on the team. He sulks. Whinge, gasbag, and talk smack about the guy. Why is everyone else so dumb they don't notice? Your full of hot air. Thanks for your time! Are you saying that I don't watch the games? Or are you saying that because you watch games that your opinion is somehow validated? My family has been STH's for 12 seasons now. But alright. I don't feel I'm smarter than everyone else. But, I do believe those who believe Gudbranson is a net positive player are crazy. The way people who are fans of Gudbranson speak about him reminds me of that scene from Moneyball. Gudbranson is the slowest player on the team. Slower than Loui Eriksson, Schaller, anyone. He - at no point in his career - has ever kept pace with Mackinnon. MacKinnon is a top five fastest player in the league. Yeah, he may have pushed Getzlaf to the ice once. He also happens to be the canuck defenseman on the ice more than anyone else. He has no agility. He's on the ice more than Mason Raymond. Woo! He has a high scrums/60 stat. But when it actually matters during play, people target him on the ice because they know he's very slow to react. He's just not an NHL caliber player. He's a -100 with no offensive production while having the easiest matchups and zone starts. But he's a 6'9 250 pound canadian kid with good scrums/

Ep40 doesn't want the league to think he can be pushed around. He did lean back into the player a bit, but it was just an unlucky happening. Next time elbow him in the mush and skate away. The only people that like him are leafs fans. What Cherry was referring to was Pettersson attempting to stop up and push back, causing them both to go down in a tangle, instead of just continuing forward. Given he's a lightweight Cherry is probably right. You can really see what he's talking about in the second animated gif "another view" about halfway down this article: https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/elias-pettersson-to-have-mri-on-injured-leg

Bias as usual. canadians are tough because they stand up to themselves, pettersson stood for himself with a reverse back check to get that clown off his back, (which happens all the time, a reverse back check) but when a European kid does it hes looking for trouble. &^@# you don. No respect for you since 94. Bure the weasel. Yea? If bure was a leaf would you say that ? No one really knows how bad is cherry is hated if he has a twitter account. My gosh. But he's a 6'9 250 pound canadian kid with good scrums/60 Gudbranson likes to look intimidating more then actually imposing. He doesn't want to mess you up but if his hand us forced he will. I wish he was a more physically imposing player. The injuries he suffered early with his hand and shoulder really seemed to slow him down. Maybe you guys might know more about his time in Florida. I'm curious how many fights he has had in his career. I would be surprised if it's much more then a dozen maybe 20 on the high side? I like his size, physicality in important games but to often players just blow by him or make him look silly. From what I've seen. He plays better when he gets more ice time. He seems more engaged in the game. Maybe it's time to reunite Edler and Gudbranson? That pairing was fun.

Gimme a break. Ah, so then you're part of the problem. And who says it's to please this fan base? How about if he may really want to attend, and he's doing it for himself? Nucker 67
According to Cherry, if a player has out-of-this-world skill and makes opponents look silly on a play, then that is looking for trouble. This, coming from a former player with zero skill. So, is Crosby and McDavid looking for trouble too? Don still hates the European players. Period. Glad he's going to be alright, but the Canucks have to do something to protect their priceless asset. Just the intimidation factor on his line would do wonders. He's missed 7.5 games so far now, and all due to cheap shots by opponents. I know it can be a vicious game at times, but allowing opponents to target Pettersson should be a no-go. Yeah he ran a clip of a bunch of "Euro's" getting hit, saying they don't know how to take a hit. Of course Auston Matthews was included in that clip to which Ron McLean chimed in he's American. I think people tune in more nowadays just to see what the crazy old man is going to say next. Let see, he said there would be more concussions because of the hard plastic used in the equipment, they changed the equipment when he hammered a nail into a board using an elbow pad, he said there would be injuries due to not letting the guys hold each other up, slow them down, he was right, he said scoring would not go up if they removed the red line, right again, he said the delay of game penalty should be treated as a icing call, haven't got there yet, he advocated for no touch icing because too many players were hurt on those plays, he is against staged fights but still wants the instigator penalty removed so star players can be protected immediately on the ice not days later after the star is waking up from a coma, He is going on 85 years old, these older guys have seen more than you will know unless you live that long and Cherry still has most, almost all his marbles and he stands up for the armed forces, who else does? Hockey is a contact sport, not so much now but because of that players get hurt worse because the don't expect to be hit, still "enforcers" can have a role, not goons, enforcers. Even with the instigator some star players need a protector on the ice, don't have to fight at every hit but a good face wash and discussion from a "reputable" player is not a bad idea.
