Laine's Scoring Slump

LOL I think his fortnite squad sucks so bad that he turned his attention to the game instead of hockey

I remember reading something last year on these boards where a prominant young player was too busy playing video games than get better and everyone got riled up thinking it is Juolevi. Now I think we finally got the answers to the question.

Petey has more goals than Laine playing 10 less games.  And he's a rookie.  Laine is one dimensional while Petey is a force defensively and will be killing penalties for years to come.  This tells you how great Pettersson has become in only his first season as Laine was being looked at as a franchise player less than a year ago.

The time line doesn't work for that story to have been about Laine. That being said, Laine plays a $&!# ton of Fortnite some days. Not that an NHL player's life should be 100% hockey all the time but it does make me wonder if he trains outside of practices.

Food for thought:  On Nov 29 #NHLJets Patrik Laine scored his 20th & 21st goal of the season, which had him in first place in the league for goals scored. Since then Laine has scored 4 goals, and currently sits 34th in the league in goals scored. Why is that important?

Anything outside the top 10 means Laine misses out on a $1.8M 'B' bonus. It also mean that the $1.8M the #NHLJets had earmarked as a possible bonus in Nov, can maybe be used at the trade deadline instead. $1.8M at the deadline is equal to an $8.37M cap hit at full value.

So Laine's fortnite addiction might just push the Jets over the top lol

Seriously, I wonder just how addicted to video games the guy is?  It’s kind of crazy to think Laine could blow up his career for this stuff, isn’t it?

I know alcohol can ruin lives, but video games?  I don’t get how playing “Pong” can be addicting.

Ok, that made me choke on my wine!  The last video games I played were Space Invaders and Frogger, but even those were a couple of generations newer than Pong!
