Team’s that want a #2/3 defenseman who’s 29 (turning 30) and signed through next year will. Plus, playoff teams giving up a first round pick will end up giving a later pick for him. For instance, Winnipeg has been one of the team’s rumoured to be looking at Muzzin. You don’t think they would give up a late first and say, Logan Stanley for Muzzin? Muzzin would be a huge boost to their LD (which is Morrissey and...meh). And Stanley is an afterthought for Winnipeg now, with Niku, Poolman, and Kovacevic all lined up. Poolman is having a rough year due to his injury earlier on. Seems to have set him back. They do like Kovacevic for the bottom pair in the next two years on the right side, while Niku will be full time on the left side next season. Another LHD the Jets are really high on in their system is Dylan Samberg. Really responsible, big, and surprisingly quick for his size. So they could easily afford to part with a package like that for a usually consistent 30-40 point defenseman who’s on a disappointing LA team.
