[Signing] Blackhawks re-sign Collin Delia

Recommended Posts

Good deal for the both.

He's performed well considering the train wreck named "Ruutta-Davidson-Manning" that was in front of him earlier in the season.  A 1 million cap hit is almost nothing against the salary cap, and if by the end of the contract Delia is the # 1 goalie, then it's quite a bargain for the Hawks.

For Delia, at 1 million dollars it basically guarantees him a spot on the roster for the upcoming years which gives him a chance to earn a bigger pay day later.

Smart deal for everyone.

This AAV is similar to what the Oilers should have given Koskinen lol!

Pretty much same # of games played at NHL level when the deal was signed

Oilers have to pay their players an extra million to live in Edmonton.

And UFAs an extra 2 million to play on that tire fire of a team.

Any expansion draft considerations to this signing?

Yes, I think that's why he got a 3 year deal instead of a 2. 3 years means he's under contract during the expansion draft. A similar thing happened with the Copley extension in Washington.

Unless he becomes the Blackhawks starter, he'll probably get exposed. 3 years at 1 mill per is a steal of a deal for the Blackhawks and if he can keep up the pace as a solid backup, it's worth the cost and term. Could see him being claimed if he emerges as an unlikely starting option in the next three years. Delia is a good story, regardless.

Hey, you're a Chicago fan.

They seem pretty loaded, 5 or 7 good D prospects. We know Boqvist & Jokiharju. I also know Mitchell & Beaudin. Is there much hype within the org about some of the others; Krys, Tuulola, Galvas, Karlsson? Am I missing anyone?
