Canucks have TWO Second Line Centers... Horvat and Gaudette

*Buzzsaw*

Recommended Posts

I think it's fairly safe to say that Gaudette is and has NHL talent.

And in fairness to the OP - he's also a Hobey Baker winner - which does not equal an inevitable and successful NHL career, but it's a hell of an indicator of elite talent.

I also think that like many other guys that come out of college careers, there's no reason his development will necessarily take a long time - he's relatively mature and has faced some good competition for years.  At 22 years of age, he's not quite as young a the typical CHL or Euro drafted prospect.

But he also has 4 goals and 9 pts in 34 games, 56.6% ozone starts, 48.3% corsi, 44.2% in the faceoff circle....

He's not a 2nd line center in the NHL yet - clearly.

He's a rookie playing 10 minutes a night.....

But the future.....there's no reason he can't have a great NHL career - who knows his 'ceiling'?

So are you suggesting that the Canucks medical staff is directly responsible for Sutter's groin problem?  ^_^

No I'm suggesting that the Canucks trainers and medical staff aren't putting enough effort into helping players prevent injuries. Exercises that help flexibility.

Proper rest, improving body mechanics. Yes there's just going to be dumb luck on some injuries. I know the team can't control the schedule. But helping players

avoiding some injuries even small things can help the team over the course of a season. Maybe bring in other strength and conditioning specialists to help players.

They already work on nutrition, gym time. Shouldn't the team help the players the best as they can?

Horvat is a 1st line center. I don't know why everyone thinks he's a 2nd line center, His production is consummate with a 1st line centers projected production.

Gaudette is good but there isn't a large enough sample size to know what he actually is yet, I tend to think he's closer to a 3rd liner right now. I do think he has more potential than a 3rd liner though.

Not only that, but lets not forget he's also still only 23, turning 24 in April. I don't think he's even quite finished developing yet.

Love these knee jerk threads after each game. It's one game guys, let's relax a bit.

"Each game"

"one game"

I think the sample size is large enough that we can start being excited about some of our up and coming youngsters.  It's more fun that just wallowing in the negative in my view...and much more relaxing.

every year his production goes up. If you prorate his season last year he would have had 56pts this year he is on pace for 62pts. I think it's going to be more than 62 because he has consistently had better production in the second half of seasons.

Yeah I agree completely.  I was just trying to be funny with the "groin" injury if you get my drift...  B)

Gaudette, excellent trade bait if packaged for a top dman, say Trouba or one Peg's others.

?

Bizarre proposal

Wpg leads the Conference - are a legit contender

Trouba and Morrisey make up one of the best young top pairings in the NHL.

They have 104 pts from their top 2 centers - as well as Adam Lowry, Andrew Copp, Jack Roslovic....

Why would they deal Trouba for a C prospect package?  Makes zero sense.

We can agree to disagree haha. I am very excited about the kids coming up, they are impressing big time but my point was the comparisons are over the top and we gotta slow it down haha.

Gaudette has 1 good game and now hes a 2nd liner?  AND you put him in the same category as Horvat.  it amazes me that people call Boeser a 1st liner but Horvat somehow gets pigeon holed as a 2nd liner.  Horvat, along with Petey is the engine that drives this offensive.  Hes the one carrying pucks, hes the one hustling and making plays, hes the one backchecking and fighting board battles like his life defends on it.  Yes, Boeser has a good shot, and is opportunistic but there is so much more that goes into driving this teams offense.  if we start caliing Boeser a 1st liner, and not Horvat, that is a major insult regardless of their positions.

And Gaudette had 1 good game out of many where he has looked completely lost.  Lets get real here please.

I agree with you, but it's also a *Buzzsaw* thread, a user known for reactionary spicy takes lol
