It’s why Bennett was put on the top line yesterday and it resulted in Johnny getting a ton of chances, he just choked on his opportunity. Flames needed more of that spread throughout there line up.

 

And honestly I think Canucks need the same thing as well. I think we’re stacked will skill but we need a player like jake to step up and become the player we expected at the 2014 draft. And we need a few more of those types as well. 

Thing is though, "Johnny got a ton of chances" but you have to be relentless in a try, try again way.  If, after a "chance" he's looking at the refs, shrugging his shoulders, he's not focused at that point. 

 

Just rewatching it and a perfect example...had a breakaway, missed/wide, then slams his stick and spends a second mourning the lost opportunity and doesn't skate back hard.  Spends a few seconds crying over spilled milk as he skates away from their net and, in the meantime, the play goes the other way.  Avs end up scoring.  He takes himself out of it rather than skating back, hard (as Petey does).  Too much drama in his game and he's just putting exclamation marks on everything and he isn't fully engaged after "misses".  So distracted as he tries to prove points out there rather than just scoring them.

Thats fine, but were talking about after the Flames last game of the season. Right after they get eliminated. After the late game. It was likely past 1 am in Toronto.

 

I can't imagine the Canucks getting eliminated from the playoffs as a #1 seed, & the panel talking about it for a few mins then switching to Leafs talk.

I think some of this statement is demonstrably false.  "Half"?  Hmmm.  "Crushed"?  Hmmm.  We're forcefed them, that's all.  If the other teams got the exposure we likely wouldn't hate them or resent them as much.  They don't deserve all the attention they get...they've sucked for some time now.  Why should we care how many people support them?  I want to watch exciting hockey, not the Golden boys who think wearing a Maple Leaf means they represent Canada.  There are a handful of other teams that represent THEIR portions of this country that get swallowed up in the Leaf blower.

 

Displaced Torontonians are no more loyal than the rest of us...if they were, they'd stay "home" in their beloved city.  Can we send the ones here back?  They seemed to have lost their way.

I am just saying that there is a reason they are on every week.  They draw viewers from every region.  Don't think we should just attack the fan base because HNIC have been Leaf blowers for so long.  Attack them for acting like idiots when they act like idiots but be prepared to compare our idiocy.  Serious glass houses issues here.

Every team has casual fans that only watch in the playoffs or follow the team indirectly.  Canuck's have tons as do all sports teams.  Sometimes it is where you grew up, I still cheer for the Celtics because I lived in that area for a while.  Sometimes it is just theat was mom or dad's team.  I don't feel that that is really a fair criticism.

Really I think it is HNIC that should be getting the criticism but that is projected on the Leaf's and their fans.

I still prefer to cheer for Canadian teams, it would really bother me to see the Leaf's raise the cup before we do but I would still cheer for the Canadian team.  I am okay if that is a little hypocritical.

Really if it was HNIC I wouldn't be surprised if they started discussing how it affects the Leaf's while the Canucks were passing around the cup.

Peters coached a horrible series. Same can be said about Cooper. The regular season playbook can be ripped up in the playoffs. Sometimes the even keeled, measured approach just won't work against a team that shifts into berserker mode.

Someone posted a short video of Johnny yelling at the refs during the hand shake.  He wasn’t even looking at the guys he was shaking hands with.  He kept looking over to the refs, who were standing in front of the score keeper’s box.
