There’s been speculation for a while that Philly would be the perfect trading partner for them. Philly has Ghost, Provorov, and Sanheim on the left side, and their best RHD is Gudas, who’s a pending UFA. Makes sense not their part. As for Winnipeg, they are really high on Jonathan Kovacevic (just finished college and signed) and Dylan Samberg (just won his second straight college National championship). Kovacevic is a natural RHD, whereas Samberg has played both sides in the past. Long story short, Trouba won’t extend in Winnipeg, so they’ll get a haul for him. And the last thing they need is tie up a ridiculous amount of money into Tyler “Mistake Central” Myers. This makes sense. Only issue I would have if I’m Winnipeg is that Trouba is better than all those guys. Basically no matter what, they’re defense is getting worse

But if you’re the Jets (and their fans), what’s better, have to trade Kyle Connor because you can’t afford to keep him, Laine, and Trouba, or keep Connor and Laine, trade Trouba for a haul, and save money? Sucks that they have to move him, but the great thing for Winnipeg is that it won’t decimate their team. They’ll still be great.

Jets set themselves up really nice to the point where they basically have to many good things
