RetroCanuck
Going to cost more then that for trade 1. Trade 2 might work, although Id rather offer sheet Kapanen or Johnsson. Id rather keep Goldy and see if he can come into the season an improved player. At least, I wouldn't trade him for only a 4th. I don't think Baer has any real trade value at this point due to concussions. If he proves healthy next season he's worth more then a low 2nd. Draft and develop. Be patient, move out extra pieces if you can. Soderstrom at 10. Hoglander at 40. Sign a 20G scorer this offseason and some Vets on 1-2year deals that can be traded at the deadline. Think like a Williams and Orpik. Id trade Hutton and Sutter (or Beagle). If untradeable, Waive Eriksson, Granlund, Biega and Schaller. All would most likely make it through and be good vets for Utica/injury call-ups. Roussel, Sutter Enough cap space to work with once one of Sutter or Roussel come off IR What did you do with Kapanen after you acquired him from Toronto? Who does he replace in the line-up and how much are you going to pay him? What is the strategy to shed $20M to pay for Pettersson and Hughes in 2 years? I am guessing that you aren't paying Leivo $4.5 M per season but rather that is the total for the length of the contract.

NUCKER67
Well Franz, you've put a lot of thought and effort into your post, so I can certainly appreciate that. It's ambitious, and I'm not sure Benning will open the wallet and swing for the fences with Panarin and Myers though. I can see Benning signing another ex-Bruin to add stability to the D (McQuaid), and maybe Donskoi or Connolly for Bo's wing. Reasonably priced, adequate players who won't demand term or a NTC. It will be interesting to see how Benning handles Goldobin, Tanev, Sutter, Granlund, Schaller, Spooner, Teves, Pouliot, Eriksson and maybe Hutton. He's going to be very busy, I hope.
