I would be more concerned with ring of fire that NK have around Seoul. They have deployed 170mm SPG and 240mm MRLS. According to miltary sources they have 175 batteries, thats lot of ammo to be fired off. Especially in a very densely populated area.

Hence, why I said Seoul would be a smoking ruin.

Attacked the news media? How so? Rappler was guilty of tax evasion, and by law, aren't allowed to operate in the first place since they are owned by foreigners.

Whos are these politcal opponents that have been jailed are you talking about? Theres only been one, Leila Delima, and she was jailed because shes guilty of aiding the drug lords. The maximum prison in the philippines have been turned into casinos, with satelitte tvs, internet, jacuzzis, hell even concert venues for the head inmates, thats all under her watch

As for the bullying, theres a crap load more anti duterte trolls out there getting paid by the LPs

The accusations of Rappler are hilarious it's almost like the Duterte administration was trying to find something to accuse Rappler of until it stuck and same goes for threatening Inquirer and other media outlets in the country. As for political opponents you have Delima and also Trillianes.

Now I am not saying all of these accusations are flat out lies I do believe when there's smoke their is fire. But don't you find it a little convenient that the only accusations being made are politicians and media outlets that are critical of the president? I am pretty sure most Filipino politicians or media conglomerates all have some form of dirty laundry but of course it seems that it's only the one's who are critical of the president that get tagged.

I mean people who believe that are either stupid or chose to be ignorant.

This reminds me of The Simpsons episode when Mayor Quimby and Laramie Cigarettes were trying to find any possible reason to disqualify Lisa from being Miss Little Springfield because she was outspoken so they found the most bogus reason to disqualify her.

As for the bullying no there aren't more trolls in the other side. Yes there are trolls in both sides but when one side threatens people because of disagreeing with the president then you have a problem. I've seen memes saying that people who don't support the drug war should be in the front line shielding so they can be killed first so the cops can do their jobs, I have seen people saying that the senators who didn't vote to extend martial law in Mindanao should be drafted so they can killed fighting the terrorists down south. Please tell me if that normal.

And of course the worst of all, that half of the country support illegal killings done by law enforcement. Pulse Asia did that poll. 80% support the war on drugs and 70% believe that extra judicial killings are being conducted. If you do the math that's HALF of the population supporting and condoning illegal actions by the police and the government. I am sorry but that's messed up and how can any nation look at themselves in the mirror saying that is ok?

Can you tell your kids and future generations 20 years from now with pride that we were a nation that accepted our government murdering our own people? Whether if they were innocent or not?

Duterte still stays in his quaint home that hes owned, and drives the same pickup truck for the last few decades. The Aquinos live in gigantic mansions with numerous maids and drivers. Whos corrupt now? Get your facts straight

So you are saying living a more humble life makes you less corrupt? Those don't add up as facts buddy. I mean I am not fan of the Aquino's but your reasoning makes no sense.

Based on the smells my many Filipino neighbors make while cooking I don't know how they can tell the difference between some of their cuisine and whats in these containers.

Nice people....gross food and where I am...no ability to treat the two buildings with any form of respect. Our trash and recycling areas are an abomination. They weren't before....the place is about 70% Filipinos with PR status.

Kinda torn here - its not like the Canadian government sent the garbage over there - go after the damn company that shipped them. Or do exactly what he says he will do and send it back. What kind of war does he plan on starting anyways? Stop sending over people to work at Tim Hortons for us? (Its a joke folks)

It may be a joke in your post but I don't think it would be in the Philippines. If Canada were to start barring people from the Philippines from coming here I think his support on the issue would start to crumble.

Interesting.. in the unlikely scenario that it gets to that point - Canada wins that fight from the air. Not to mention aid from NATO allies. Duterte would be stupid to start a war over garbage.

I would't put anything past him. @filthycanuck , you are so blinded in his support of him it is comical. How can you support someone so adamantly who has ZERO regard for human rights?

Zero regard for human rights, try explaining about the 1.7 million people that actually surrendered untouched from the drug war.

You know whats comical? An idiot from St. Catherines posting in a Canucks forum, thats commenting on philippine politics when hes not even filipino. Real bright buddy. Does your high horse eat carrots or crap like you do?

You do realize that Duerte is basically a military dictator right?

He has jailed a lot of people, like political opponents, often for reasons related to "drugs".

Also, I do recall Mexico Presidents Calderone/Nieto both being hard on drugs like Duerte, yet be rumored to have been working with drug lords.

The reality is that there are a lot of players in the drug industry. The fact that you can get 'all' the players in the drug world is naive. They were either sacrificed to make it look like the government was doing something or they were hand-picked people from a rival drug cartel.

Get a clue, filthycanuck.

Hypothetically say 30,000 soldiers do land in Vancouver and our soldiers are occupied out east with flood relief... what do you do for the first bit?  Does everyone grab their rifles with intent to defend?

We are Canadian.  We grab hockey sticks.

I'm actually from Vancouver, born and raised. So let me get this straight, because I have a conscious and am an advocate for human rights, I can't comment on Philippine Politics because I am not Filipino?

If that is the standard that you are setting for discussion on world politics than we have a problem.

If that is his standard, why is he on a Canadian website where the major focus is hockey?

The accusation against Rappler is true, with all the documents bared to the public already, the President wasn't wrong on that one. Trillanes isn't in jail, and if the President is this dicatator who you say he is, Trillanes would've been dead already. Nope, hes still alive, making up stuff with no basis and imaginary people who've yet to come forward. Why is abs cbn still running? Thats an Aquino owned media conglomerate? The president has the right to critisize the media, just like the media can say whatever they want about him. Any dead journalists during the Duterte Administration? ZERO. How many in the Aquino regime? 10 (i think its about 13, but 10 to be safe) Dutertes campaign was mainly based on the drug war, he won by a landslide, so don't act suprised. Its called a democracy.

The fact you're referencing a simpsons episode is quite pathetic, are you a 12 year old?

"Ive seen senators this, and memes" yadda yadda. Its the internet, people are free to say whatever they damn want. If your offended, then guess what, don't go online then

How do you know their innocent then? Do you know this for a fact or are you just assuming? Exactly. All I know is crime is in an all time LOW in the philippines, run down beaches and cities are finally clean. I'll take a few dead criminals if that what it takes for my kids to be able to walk safely from school or play in the park at night time without having the fear of them being kidnapped, raped or robbed. For the last 30 years the Philippines has been stuck in a rut because no one fears the law, and now they are and theres actual order in the country
