[Report] Charlie McAvoy suspended 1 game

What a joke. Obviously, the NHL is not very serious about taking head shots out of the game eh? McAvoy should've been yanked and suspended for the Conference Final. He lined Andersson up, blind-side direct hit to the face with his shoulder. He even lunged upwards to make contact. Wow. Why does BOS always get the benefit of the doubt when it's so obvious how dirty they are?

The hilarity of it all is that the video deemed it a illegal hit to the head but no player has no history so 1 game - like that should even matter.

good call to suspend

no comment on length, can't tell wtf the standard is with this league

The standard in this league is determined by the color of the offending players jersey...hope that helps...

Who cares?

Should have been a major and game-ejection when it mattered - in a game 7 that they lead by a goal at the time....

The gongshow pairing of Sutherland and Kozari strike again.  Surprise.

So he misses game 1.    Who cares?  Too little, too late.  Damage done.

The NHL rule book doesn't allow for a major penalty or a game misconduct for an illegal check to the head - a 2min minor is the only option.

He could have received a match penalty if the ref thought there was intent to injure, but even in this ruling they say they accept that he wasn't deliberately trying to check Anderson in the head.  Failed execution rather than intent to injure.

The GMs need to change the rules.
