He would be great as a third pairing D man at that stage of his career. That would give him a healthy run for cups here in VANcity. Just stay healthy eagle and we are looking at some cups buddy!
Angry Goose
fair deal for all parties involved! Very stoked as Id like to see eagle retire a Canuck. Also, hands off Seattle

brian42
Even at 4 years it’s better than other options besides I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if Seattle picks him up. He’d be 1 of their best D-men for sure
VegasCanuck
If we can wrap him up for 3 - 4 years at 5 - 5.5 million cap hit. Pretty happy, considering how little there is in the UFA market for defense this year.

Popular Post Ralph.
This deal is perfect, at 3 or 4 years. The term never bothered me and even less so now that the cap hit is significantly lower than he would get on the open market (thought he might hold out for more without the full clauses). No expansion protection to boot... It's the right way for him to become less relied on as his career begins to wind down. In a nutshell: We'll have out veteran/experienced D mentor, who is a career Canuck, at a price that will likely never be a problem (while still being our #1/2D for next season). Anyone that has a problem with that while we are trying to build our new D is crazy. 3 3
MystifyNCrucify
I can handle four years. It was always the nmc/not being able to protect a younger player in the expansion draft. 5.5 mill is a lot less than wed have to pay a ufa. And less term. King Heffy
Great value. Even with the fourth year, he'll still be able to contribute in the third pairing. 1

CDC you should be ashamed of yourselves Bunch of panicky Paulina's. Very true. I even slipped into that mindset briefly.. and though I clarified it was a big “if” I still feel a bit ashamed. if he signs a deal like the one reported I owe Edler an apology. Also, full credit to JB. This move plus the Horvat one have been full value. Funny how it’s easier to keep that amount down when dealing with hometown talent and an exciting future.

Darius
I was hoping they would keep one of Tanev or Edler around to shelter the younger guys coming in. Keeping Edler is cheaper than going UFA route to get similar calibre player I think. This should open the door to move Tanev. Maybe for currency they can use at the draft. GB5
Friedman's tweet is confusing, nice use of multiple negatives Elliot.. He said...."Hearing VAN and Edler closing in on three-year deal that will not have a clause preventing him from being exposed in the expansion draft" So does that mean that Edler can be exposed or not?
