Quote March 2020 – Karlsson has found new life since a mid-January trade to BIK Karlskroga. The 20-year-old has 16 points in his last 10 games and sits top-15 in Allsvenskan scoring. With his contract up at the end of this season, there’s a reasonable chance he crosses over and helps fill the emptying centre-ice cupboard within the Canucks’ pipeline. Very soon, our right side is going to be over filled and decisions will have to be made. There is no hype. when you watch the way VP plays, it’s playoff hockey. that’s the type of player he is, and the way he has been groomed defensively is also outstanding. hes going to be an important player for us. 3
JeremyCuddles
Pod sounds like the Russian version of Horvat. Made for playoffs. From what I hear Pod has swagger to his game though. Horvat is more of a cool cat. Calm cool and collected. Like the Sedins. Very excited to see where this team is with Pod replacing Eriksson on Horvat's wing. That sounds like nightmare fuel for the opponents.

From video I’ve seen of Podolzkin over the past and present (exhibition). . he engages like Stan Smyl used to, always pressure , very little gap, likes to finish his check.. fearless. ... and I know it’s going out on a limb, but there is an element of Bures game and how his play used to funnel toward the net consistently,. No time wasted on perimeter play , it’s pucks to the net and get the rebound. 300ft player, he is back and up again and back again.. tenacious. Pretty sure when he gets here he sticks.. there will be room, or room made. Edited August 23, 2020 by SilentSam 3 1 2

Lots of options -Toffoli resigning... seems unlikely -Sutter, Pearson (and Baertschi) in their UFA seasons. Trade or walk in UFA. Maybe resign Pearson -Ferland likely has to go on LTIR. He's risking his entire future to keep on playing -Eriksson retires... praying, yet know he likely wont. Maybe waived or seattle expansion. We could have a very good young team in 2 years, with Horvat, Pettersson and Hughes leading the young core. Being right handed it gives him more net to shoot at. Also getting tee’d up for one timers. I’m surprised it hasn’t even been looked at to this day as he’s never really taken off on the right wing.

He is more dangerous on the left wing. I expect the reason we don't see him playing that wing may be that he is not good enough at making and receiving passes on his backhand. He has played there occasionally, and often crosses over within a shift to take advantage of the better shot angle. A modern pro goes where he has room on the attack unless he has @ specific assignment.

Jake rarely if ever played LW in junior. He was RW but as noted, frequently took advantage of the neutral zone crossover, when available, for the shot advantage reasons you noted. I assume he remains RW due to it being the safer, more comfortable position for him in his own end and for giving/receiving passes as Ray noted.
